“Great for young history buffs/archaeologists”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 8, 2014

We went with our 4, 7 and 8 year olds. The tour guide was very knowledgable and interested in what he does. He made it fun and educational for all of us, although it was geared more towards the kids. Lots of hands-on displays.

“Don't bother with Jorvik - Go to the Dig!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 27, 2014

My 7 year old daughter visited the dig after our visit to Jorvik. The staff were lovely, very helpfull and very knowledgable! They include a tour which we only had to wait 30 minutes for as we hadn't pre booked.
The staff had a great way with the kids and gave all the kids a positive reaction to their somewhat strange answers to questions! Especially my daughter who before this visit had no knowledge of Vikings and archeology.
Lots of hands on activities that were not full of typed information that the kids aren't interested in trying to read.
There is a small play area upstairs which was very clean and full of lovely books and toys in great condition.
You could spend hours there and for the price it's worth it. We used tesco club card vouchers which meant we paid very little to top up which I will do again.
Overall very enjoyable and educational!

“Great day out”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 26, 2014

Visited the Dig after the Jorvik centre and felt it was the better of the two. Our 2 boys 10 and 7 loved the hands-on dig section and the tour guide really seemed to enjoy explaining all our bombardment of questions and was very knowledgable. There was plenty to see do and various clips to watch of the digs. I'm glad we added this to our Visit to York and if we hadn't gone to the Dig would have found the single cost of the Jorvik Centre quite over priced for the amount of time spent there. Overall would definatley recommend the Dig especially as the children really loved joining in.

“Great For Kids”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 23, 2014

Not great for adults (we went as a couple). Seemed superb for kids though. Hands on archaeology fun. Brings the history alive for them. Take them here!

“Excellent morning for the kids (and me)”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 21, 2014

We bought the jorvick centre and dig ticket (with voucher cloud voucher) and spread the two attractions over the two days we visited York. The centre was over and done with quote quickly considering. 40minute queue!!

The dig on the other hand was more up our street.... Lots of hands on activities for the kids and we all enjoyed it and learned lots. Worth the money.. Not sure .. With a voucher .. Yes!!
