My boyfriend and I had lunch here yesterday, we wanted something light but tasty all the same. I had wanted to book Lucias for new years dinner but it was ticket only and we dont live in York so had to book elsewhere, so when we were looking for lunch and stumbled across Lucias we felt we had to go! The place itself was bustling, but the layout is a little odd - you have to walk through a bar, past the kitchen and the till into the back room of tables to be seated! Its all a bit step aside and wait for someone to pass but once in it was quite an atmosphere - great music and full of families friends and couples all looking like they were having a good time! What I really liked is that they had 'light plates' which were basically a little like tapas, but that you could just order as a main if you wished and they were only £3.95 a plate! I ordered the lamb kebab and rice, and my boyfriend ordered the chicken wings with piri piri dip; we also had some chips to share. Drinks is where the money is made though- a diet coke (half a glass rest filled with ice!) was £2.95 which I found a little excessive considering the price of my food! The food was absolutely lovely, lamb cooked medium rare which I loved, and the rice was cooked properly. My boyfriend loved his chicken wings though be warned - the piri piri is HOTT! We thought it was delicious but maybe not so for those who dont like too much heat! The waitresses were lovely, although service was a little unusual in that we were served by two waitresses over the course of our 30 minute meal. If im staying in York again I would return for a proper meal this time, as judging by the tasters we had, the food is gorgeous!
