Description: The Ivy Brasserie is located at The Grange Hotel, an elegant regency town house hotel, just 5 minutes walk from York Minster. The up-to-the-minute décor, plush leather seats and sophisticated artwork is a perfect example of how to marry contemporary design with traditional elegance. The Ivy Brasserie’s unpretentious approach to top quality dining has earned it much admiration amongst Yorkshire’s foodies, as well as two AA rosettes. A traditional British menu is flecked with modern influences, skilfully cooked using the freshest of locally sourced ingredients. Current favourites include scallop tortellini with a tomato and butter sauce, and roast English partridge, bread sauce and game chips. The excellent wine list features up to 25 bottles for under £20.

“Great cuisine and a welcoming atmosphere”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 26, 2014

An imaginative and varied menu with definite French influences, friendly and helpful service and a good wine list. We are a wheelchair user and her accompanist, and were impressed by the way in which the staff had ramps ready for arrival and departure - there are a few steps up from street level, but once inside everything is on the level.

The veg & trimmings eg chestnuts & samphire which accompanied the food which appeared wasn't what was ordered & didn't appear at all. Most dishes ordered were very disappointing.eg Hard poached eggs for breakfast

“Very poor service”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 4, 2014 via mobile

Mains where good. Starter and dessert ok. The service was the worst part pretty much ignored the entire evening. Never asked how the meals where, had to ask for napkins and had to go to the bar to pay the bill as nobody was around for 20 mins after finishing dessert.

“A great meal and attentive service in The Ivy Brasserie”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 14, 2013

On the rebound from a poor experience last week at The Star Inn in York, we are very pleased to report that The Ivy got it right on the 13th from the moment we walked in. A warm welcome, an offer to take our coats and the table was waiting! No hassle. We started with hay-smoked mackerel, followed by vension (and superb vegetables) and ended with a duo of apple desserts, coffee and petit fours. The complimentary bread, olives and amuse bouche were impressive. Drinks to start and glasses of wine with each course, everything arrived on time as one would expect. This meal was a most rewarding and relaxed experience.
