Description: Nineteen Restaurant is a sophisticated little gem nestled in York's vibrant Grape Lane. Situated in one of York's oldest buildings, dating back to 1437, Nineteen provides a relaxing and contemporary atmosphere. The assured menu boasts plenty of fresh seafood and local North Yorkshire produce. Popular dishes include the Whitby fish pie with cheesy topping and the char-grilled ribeye steak served with Bearnaise and triple cooked chips. If that's not enough to make your date doe-eyed, try reminding them that Grape Lane was once an infamous institution in York's old red light district, known to locals as Grope Lane.

“A little Gem!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 29, 2014

My partner and I had lunch at this quaint York restaurant after stumbling across it. We were very impressed with the service from the moment we arrived and were invited to sit at the table by the window upstairs to 'watch the world go by'... By far the best table!!! The food was lovely and, after several visits to York, the best we've had so far!

We will most definitely be recommending this restaurant for the friendly saff, quaint building and excellent food.

“Super Sunday lunch”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 18, 2014

Excellent value set price Sunday lunch. Starters and main courses couldn't be faulted but desserts not quite as good as we anticipated after so enjoying first two courses. We will certainly return to sample the weekday menu.

“stunning”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 17, 2014

i most say when you first walk into nineteen and are taken upstairs, you do wonder what you have let yourself in for, quirky building to say the least.
You are soon put at ease with the two excellent young ladies waiting the tables.
I have been lucky to eat at some top restaurants recently(Le Gavroche and Restaurant Gordon Ramsey) to name a couple. My son and i can honestly say this place is not far.

Top top marks to all the team at Nineteen,we will be coming back next year when the racing is on again(and it cant come soon enough)

“Lovely meal, nice service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 13, 2014

Small and intimate, friendly staff, good variable menu and good wine list. Food was very nice, beautifully presented. The tables downstairs are close together but its not uncomfortable. We had to book in advance and it was just a lovely night. We both had wonderful steak.
