4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 18, 2010

We only stayed one night and for what we wanted we couldn't fault it. We were visiting York for the first time and the Crescent Guest House was only 5 mins walk from the Minster plus we had safe free parking. What more could you wish for? We will definitly stay there again and hope this has helped other people.

We stayed at the Crescent for a 2 night stay in May 2010. It's a lovely little guesthouse where the price of £60 per night was a bargain as the guesthouse is only a 10 min walk from the centre of York so it's really convenient. We had a room on the top floor which was an adequate size and it has all the amenities that we needed - ensuite bathroom, tv and kettle with tea, coffee etc. The breakfast was really nice - a choice of cereals and fruit followed by a choice of cooked breakfasts. All of the staff were really nice and were always very helpful. Check in was from 2pm, but we were arriving at about 10am. The owners were really helpful, gave us our room key and sorted out the paperwork and they looked after our luggage until later on that day.

Overall, we'd recommend this guesthouse to anyone visiting York, it's excellent value for money!

The B&B was a little hard to find, but we phoned up and was given great directions.... Just look out for a Londis shop on the corner. When I entered I was impressed by how modern the decor was (I've stayed in some dismal places). I managed to check in at 11:30, even though check in states 2pm on the web (I think you may have to let them know). We had a double en-suite, everything was clean and tidy. Soap was provided and tea/coffee making facilities. When we checked in we were given a map of York which was very helpful. The TV had all the freeview channels, but there wasn't a hairdryer - so don't forget yours!! York is about a 10 minute walk (you can see York Minster from the rear windows). Our room was on the main road, so there was a little road noise, but with the windows shut it was minimal. The place is upstairs and there isn't a lift, I don't think there is any disabled access. Breakfast is between 8:30 and 9:30 at the weekend with check out at 10:00. I thought this to be a little early for a sunday, I would have liked even an extra half hour. If your travelling by car, you get a permit to park in the street next to the B&B. We had this for over Saturday and Sunday, even though we only stayed one night. Meaning we could leave our bags in the car and go into York all day Sunday too. Places to see in York: York Minster, Jorvik viking museam (but only if you have some sort of voucher, it's not worth it otherwise).

We would recommend this B&B to anyone. It has a great location, accomodation is great and the food is yummy. But the best thing about it was the truly amazingly helpful owners, who will do all in their power to ensure you have a great stay. If you are visiting York stay here.

For what you pay to stay at this B&B it's very good value for money compared to others. We had nothing to complain about cleanliness or standard of food. We would stay here again for sure.

We thought the Crescent Guest House was a pretty good place to stay in York and very close to York Minster. We really liked our room with the exception of the fact that it was on the very top floor, but luckily enough we can handle the stairs. The owner was super friendly when we arrived and told us where to park and waited at the door for us to come in.
We thought the breakfast was pretty good and Ruth, was cheery and friendly both mornings we were there. We ate at an Italian restaurant, Mama Mia's our second night in York, which is just a short walk from the Crescent House and it was very yummy.
This is not the best or nicest B&B we have stayed in, but it certainly wasn't bad either. We would go back if we were to return to York.

We stayed in this B&B for the bank holiday weekend of August 2008. We always prefer B&B over hotels for their homely atmosphere. However when we booked Crescent we didn't know we were heading for a terrible place, with bad food and pathetic service. Our room was not cleaned but it was used and dirtied during our absence.

PLEASE AVOID THIS PLACE YOU WILL FIND MANY B&Bs GIVING YOU GOOD PRICE, SERVICE AND BREAKFAST.
