We stayed here for one night and found the stay very good, the rooms are clean and comfortable, and the Hall a wonderful building. It just looks that little bit special when you turn into the courtyard.
We had room 5 which is at the rear of the building looking out over the Esk valley, it has a wonderful mullion window and is just made for sitting there with a cuppa taking in the view. Our son had room 1 which was a little larger and at the front of the property, he said the room was good and no problems.
Breakfast was spot on, cooked fresh and presented well, plenty of tea/coffee and juices, along with the usual cereals and fruit.
The Hall has a bar and the prices are reasonable, we were the only ones in the bar but given the time of year its not unusual, the bar is not attended all the time, you have to ring a bell for attention, but the owners are quick to appear.
The hosts are a nice couple, very welcoming and nothing appears too much trouble, they took their time to chat and make sure everything was ok.
The Hall is just outside Whitby in a small village called Ruswarp, but it is easily within walking distance for most people, there is a paved trod that runs past the hall, the path follows the Esk valley and it is away from the traffic until you reach whitby, a pleasant walk even if you don't go all the way to whitby,it brings you out at the top of whitby and it took us about 20 minutes to get there, we walked back as well but were told it's about 5 quid by taxi back.
All in all a good place to stay and very welcoming.
