“A WARM WELCOME AT THE WHEELDALE.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 28, 2012

Located in a premier position on the North Promenade of this picturesque little town, The Wheeldale (formerly called Daneholm) has been welcoming regular visitors (including this writer) for well over 50 years. Now efficiently run by Mr & Mrs Coleman, The Wheeldale offers guests comfortable B&B accommodation, has Wi-fi and is licensed. There is ample off-road parking, 12 comfortable en-suite rooms guaranteeing a good nights rest, and a hearty full English breakfast to get the day started.
Whitby has a considerable history centered around the fishing industry and offers a fascinating glimpse into the maritime past. The town is not car-friendly, but all the attractions are within easy walking distance.
A warm welcome is assured at The Wheeldale. It is a little gem.

Room Tip: Room #3 on the 1st floor has great sea views from the bay window.

We enjoyed a long weekend at Whitby and chose this hotel, a good location on the beach front with the hustle bustle of the town centre a short walk away, comfortable, tidy room, friendly staff, excellent breakfast. Some building work was on-going during our stay but it didn't cause any hindrance. Would definitely recommend and use again.

Stayed here from 10th-13th September. Enjoyed every minute of it. Lovely breakfast everyday. Choices of cereal and fruit juices. Friendly staff. A guest lounge with a TV and DVD. Plus a fridge with a selection of drinks and a computer in the corner. There are plenty of things to see and do in Whitby. Would recommend this hotel with a sea view. We will see you again soon.

Just got back from Whitby today, had a very enjoyable stay at the Wheeldale. we stayed one night, 2 x rooms for ourselves and our friends
the rooms were very modern and clean, Full Sky HD and flat screen TV. The room we had had a large corner bath and the room itself was quite large. The location was perfect. the car park is small but we got in no bother. the communal areas are also very nice, and the breakfast was spot on and served very quickly. The staff were very friendly and quite numerous for a small B&B. All-in-all I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Whitby, and I'm sure we will return.
The only thing I could mention was the wi-fi was not available in our room as advertised (we had 3 x devices, none could pick up a signal). however we could get a limited signal in the downstairs lounge....This however did not detract from our stay as we were out and about most of the time.

Our stay at The Wheeldale was lovely. The room was comfortable, clean and tastefully decorated. Having Sky Sports in the room was a huge plus. Nobody goes on holiday to stay in and watch TV but it was nice to be able to tune into the football while we were resting our feet between walks! Breakfast is served between 8 – 9 am and is definitely worth getting up for. The staff were friendly and helpful.

Our holiday had been perfect until we received a call from the guest house shortly after we had checked out. We were asked if we had left anything running in the bathroom because they had a leak. As we had vacated our room, it would have been obvious that we had left everything as it should have been (which we certainly had). The question implied that we had somehow covered up a flood, so we both felt quite hurt that our lovely stay at The Wheeldale had ended with a feeling of accusation. A strange way to end our holiday.
