“Wonderful old ruins.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 24, 2014

Its the sort of thing we love. Yes, you pay to go in but its worth the money to wonder around under the huge old arches. They had run out of audio guides that day so can't comment on quality but you don't necessarily need them to soak up the atmosphere. Recommended and well done to the English Heritage.

“Worth the Climb!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 24, 2014

Yes, there are a lot of steps, but the views of the sea, Whitby and the River Esk from the top are worth it -- and that's before you take in the abbey ruins.

“Not much to see.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 23, 2014

Expensive just to see ruins which can be seen for free from miles around. Car park also expensive. Suggest charging slightly more but make it a season ticket for the year.

“Worth the steps and the entrance price”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 22, 2014

It's not untill you walk beneath the ruined walls that you appreciate the craftsmanship and effort required to create something of this size. We had the waether so with the sun shining you could spend at least an hour soaking in the rays and enjoying the views. Would recommend taking advantage of the Audio tour guide and the entrance price of arounfd £7 per adult was worth it to hear all about the abbeys history.

“Stunning Abbey”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 21, 2014

Wonderful staff working in and around the Abbey.

Wonderful views, the ruins are protected well and it was a pleasure to walk around with the dog.

The only negative point was the free audio guide. It was irritating!

Audio guide was disappointing
