“Warm and friendly, well situated hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 10, 2012

Stayed for 2 nights B & B in room 24 in the Lodge which is 100 yards up the hill from the main part of the hotel. The room was warm, spacious and modernly equipped and with a nice en suite shower room. No view to speak of except the hospital which overlooks the lodge, but then this is the price you pay for being ideally situated close to Whitby centre. Breakfast which was taken in the main hotel dining room was very nice. All staff were welcoming during our stay and we look forward to returning next year if a similar deal can be obtained.

I really love this Hotel.
If you are looking for a warm and welcoming hotel, where nothing is too much trouble from everyone from Cleaners to Management - all of whom are exceptionally friendly & willing to go out of their way to accommodate their Guests - where the food is excellent and the very Historic surroundings are just beautiful - then look no further than Bagdale Hall.
Bagdale Hall itself would also be superb for any Honeymooner's out there!
Sooooooooo romantic!
Whitby can be a very difficult place to find a place to park - but even there, no worries! Bagdale Hall has ample Car Parking fascilities, better yet, once there, you wont need your car for staying in Whitby! All the shops, Old Town, Harbour, Piers and Abbey are all within easy walking distance.
Enjoy!

Room Tip: If you like romantic four posters set in large breathtaking rooms - then ask for a room in Bagdale...

found a deal for this hotel in Whitby,2 night B&B for 2 people £89.
The hotel is nice olde worldy kind, our room was in the lodge which is 10 yards away from the main hotel. The room although no view was very clean, comfortable and had Tv and tea and coffee making facilities. Bathroom was good with excellant shower etc. Breakfast in the main hotel on a morning was excellant, everything you could wish for and more, good selection from full english to scrambled egg and smoked salmon, to kippers etc .
The staff are very pleasant and helpful. This hotel has good parking, and 2 mins walk and you are at the heart of whitby, with easy road access to go to plenty of other places should you wish. For the 2 night break this was ideal. The main hotel has rooms with four posters etc but that would reflect in the price you pay. Although we did not try the restraunt on an evening the menu looked reasonable and varied.

We stayed for three nights, just before the start of the November Goth Weekend, our fault for deciding so late, but, the Hotel was well appointed, the staff quietly efficient and helpful and overall, a good experience, but do dust the tops of the four poster, the standard of cleanliness, and food was good.
Reason for visit, my wife's research work on Goth festival for her PhD, so we dressed the part

we arrived in Whitby on a very bad night it was pouring down with rain and running out of options regards to getting a hotel for the night (unknown to us it was a Dracula film festival on) so we went on line to see if we could get anything ,so we booked a suite with a fourposter bed The room was large with a gas fire ,dressing table and a huge fourposter (it just freaked me out)sorry its not for me, dull dingy and a bit scary....The plus side we thought all the staff were lovely and the hotel is close to the center of Whitby.I guess if you like old Tudor hotels( hotel says its Tudor) you may well you like it .

We stayed on a KGB deal and were allocated a room in the lodge which is 100 yards or so up a steep hill from the hotel. The room was clean with a comfortably firm bed, trouser press and hot drink facilities. The bathroom was spacious, nicely decorated with a very powerful shower. The hotel itself is a lovely old building, full of character, and the staff we met were friendly and polite. There was a good choice for breakfast and I recommend the scrambled eggs which were very creamy.
The position of the hotel is ideal as it is only a 5 minute level walk into the centre of Whitby and the ample free parking at the hotel and lodge is a bonus.
I would have preferred to stay in the hotel itself rather than the lodge but, other than this, everything was good and I would definitely stay here again if the same deal was available.
