“Great fresh food, friendly staff and lovely set spot.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 21, 2013 via mobile

Ate here twice in one week whilst in Whitby. Not the cheapest of places but worth the money for freshness, portion sizes and difference in dishes. If you are used to plastic chain pubs then this isn't for you. The hot beef curry went down very well as did the sizzling beef. The Stables Burger!! May have an in appropriate title but was fab. Will be back when next here!

“Our 5th anniversary stay here”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 15, 2013 via mobile

Loved everything, rooms are set out perfectly on two levels, staff can't do enough for you. Lovely lounge to relax in with roaring fire and food is out of this world. This is our 5th year staying here for our anniversary, we always stay 3 nights and it gets better every year. Can't recommend it enough, is the perfect place for a romantic get away or just an evening of food indulgence. Only a few miles from Whitby but to be honest once we arrive here we don't move out the hotel for the 3 days preferring just to chill reading books etc in front of the fires whilst being served delicious hot chocolate with cream and marshmallows. Can't wait to go back next year.

“Overnight break”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 13, 2013

Whitby is one of our favourite "bolt holes" and we stayed at the Stables having read an article in the Yorkshire Post paper. We were not disappointed. We had originally booked to go in January but that trip was snowed off so this was the rearranged visit. We stayed one night and had the lamb shank from the menu which was very good. Breakfast the next day was also good - it would take a few trips up the 199 steps to Whitby Abbey to work off the calories. The next time we visit we may try a different room to see how it compares to the one we stayed in.

“Limited menu, expensive, great service”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 11, 2013 via mobile

Lovely food, but the menu is very limited. Tad expensive at £17(ish) average main course. My pint of Guinness which I ordered on arrival had a 1.5" head on it with the remainder running down the side of the glass. Service was a little slow but compensated for by the waiting staff which were second to none. Probably wouldn't go back
