“Fabulous and friendly”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 7, 2013

Staff were great, and very lovely with our 2 year old daughter. The hotel is great and we would love to return. I hope the Luxury for Less package continues, as it had everything we needed, and for a couple of nights stay meant it was good value. It is refreshing to see a hotel be so luxurious, yet the staff so down to earth and 'normal' yet professional. we like to visit nice hotels, but some we have been to have been quite snobby and uncomfortable. Raithwaite Hall has a great balance.

Room Tip: The club rooms are an excellent size, and suffice if you require cot space. The rooms provided more...

Being self confessed hotel snobs we had a few reservations about the quality of hotels when attending a function in Robin Hoods Bay. Unless we were willing to stay in a guest house or budget Bed & Breakfast our choices were pretty limited. After a quick search on the Internet we stumbled across Raithwaite Hall and made a booking.

The hotel is situated just outside of Whitby on a quiet hillside on a private estate and is only 17 months old. Check in time was 3pm however our room was available upon arrival at 1.30pm. Our room was on the third floor and was modern, spacious and had everything we needed for our stay. The staff were very helpful & friendly, the breakfast was delicious with plenty of choice and overall we were more than happy with our choice.

18 of us stayed at Raithwaite Hall for a Hen Party - its about a 20 minute walk into Sandsend and 45 minute walk in Whitby. The hotel is quite new but the staff are very friendly, attentive and very welcoming.
The breakfast is one of the best we've had and the surrounding gardens are exceptional. Some of the girls used the spa facilities which were relaxing.
A little more expensive than we usually pay but this was well worth the extra cost, one of the girls is almost certain she will be booking her wedding here and we are looking into going back for the new year.
Well worth the visit.

Room Tip: Room 104 has a beautiful view of the gardens and some rooms have a balcony or terrace.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 5, 2013

We have stayed at Raithwaite Hall before, and returned bringing along with us a third couple. Once again the welcome from staff was wonderful, and our room was very nice indeed. However, it would seem that savings are being made on the toiletries (Molton Brown has been replaced by a cheap brand, and fewer items). The hospitality tray seemed a little less full too. Anyhow, we headed for the dining room as we'd booked dinner in the hotel. We were all disappointed; it was expensive and not to the high standard we expected. We had a very comfortable night, the beds are delightful. Breakfast was totally delicious. There are lots of choices; cereals, fabulous muesli, excellent breads, tasty rhubarb and amazing cooked breakfast. Most (if not all) ingredients locally sourced. If you wish you can have other items from the kitchen, such as omelettes. However, disappointedly they come with a surcharge. WHY...?? The hotel is ideally placed to walk into Whitby, or Sandsend in the opposite direction. One of our friend's had a massage in the spa (Vinny) and she said it was fabulous. We ate out for the second night. On our return to the hotel we had a quick chat with the guy on reception; chatting about the new buildings and the fact that the owner was dining in the restaurant that night. It started off as a nice chat, but then the guy became really quite unprofessional; passing awful comments about guests and saying his job was 'money for old rope'. We all found this quite uncomfortable and not what we expect from staff in a 5* hotel. Though I have to say, all the other staff were really nice and professional. We hope the hotel does not 'slip' and restores itself to the original high standards we enjoyed the first time. Having said that, we have recommended it to more friends and will be returning with two other couples at the end of July. I will report back for Part 3....!!

Hurrahholiday,
We are so pleased you enjoyed your third stay with us and brought friends with you!
The bathroom amenities have been exchanged with new Aromatherapy Associates amenities, but this decision was not made to take anything away from the guest experience, but to incorporate the products that are used in our spa. Although we do not place nail files in guest rooms any more, extra amenities are always available to guests upon request.
Regarding the hospitality tray, we have made the decision to remove the kettle from the treys and place them near an electrical outlet which appears to be more suitable for a lot of our guests. In its place, we now place complimentary water on every trey.
We are thrilled you enjoyed your overall stay with us and are truly grateful for your feedback regarding our food and beverage outlets and staff comments. Please be assured that the necessary steps are being taken to ensure the highest level of guest satisfaction.
We will be sure to pass on your wonderful comments to all of our ladies and gentlemen and look forward to welcoming you back soon!
Kind Regards
Your Raithwaite Hall Team

We have just stayed at this fantastic hotel for a weekend. On arrival they have a concierge service and they are really helpful. The rooms are very spacious and lovely en.suite. The hotel is in the most beautiful settings and they have lovely gardens to relax and have a read or you can have a lovely stroll. We had a lovely meal in poachers bar and they also do a great afternoon tea. The spa is a great place to chill and relax and you can have some lovely beauty treatment. The pool is a good temperature and the settings are really relaxing. The breakfast it really good with lots of choice hot and cold and you can order eggs poached from the waitress or the chef is in the breakfast area and will do you a fried egg or make you a fresh omelet. We would definitely return to this hotel for a relaxing weekend break and would recommend it to friends and family.

I booked a 2 night spa rivival package for my husbands 50th birthday, from the minute we arrived until we left we were treated so well by every member of staff that we came across.
The room was lovely and a nice large bathroom also door to outside where there was a table and chairs to sit and have a coffee in the sunshine.
Only thing that was missing was toothbrush holder in bathroom and the hospitality tray could be better stocked, but these are only trivial points.
would definatley recommend and will most surely return
Thank you to everyone for a superb break
