We called here last week on our easter break. The place itself looked inviting enough and we were looking forward to a light bite and a warm. However with only two tables plus us and two members of staff i found it quite bizzare that we were not acknowledged in anyway . In fact after ten minuites i got up to go to the counter to ask if we ordered there, only to be told they would come to us [no hello or smile]. I duly sat down with my family and waited a further few minuites for our order to be taken again no smiles from the young man who served us. The coffees were fine and hot when they arrived, however we had to wait a further 40 minuites for our sandwiches ,so long i was about to get up and cancel when they appeared in the nick of time. I accept at busy periods there is a wait, but it was not busy and neither were we told at any point we may have a wait. With an extensive menu i would also have understood but the menu was sandwiches fry ups and jacket potatoes and soup, with cake for afters. Needless to say we didnt take cake as by this point we had spent so long in the cafe that we ran out of time. I am sure that i would not be writing this on the merit of the food which was fresh and fine, however the sullen service and lack of urgency to serve customers left a sour taste in my mouth. Rubbed in by the fact that in your face at the till was a tip plate, As tips are about service i did not leave any money. My tip for managment is shake up your staff and give them something to smile about and engage with customers. And as a hotelier with many years experience i am writing this so lessons can be learnt as it is so easily rectified. On a positive note its a lovely quaint place you have and i wish you well
