We decided to spend a few days in Whitby for our first wedding anniversary. Having booked our accommodation, we were advised by our hosts at Number 5 Guest House (well recommended!) to book a table at The Marine Restaurant. We were definitely not disappointed. When we rang to pre-book a table, we were informed that we would be allocated a two hour slot. However, when we mentioned it was a special occasion, they were kind enough to let us have the table all evening. Upon arrival at the restaurant, we were shown to our table and informed that the toilets were out of action due to an ‘electrical fault’. However, this did not detract from our evening, despite the fact we were the only two people dining in the restaurant on the Sunday evening, it actually made the occasion all the more special to have the restaurant to ourselves! We chose a lovely bottle of Fault Line Sauvignon Blanc to accompany the Shellfish Linguine and the Whole Lobster (out of shell) with crushed new potatoes and grapefruit salsa, both highly recommended. To follow, we opted for the cheese and oatcakes to share. We will definitely make a return visit next time we are in Whitby.
