“Excellent value yummy food.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 30, 2013

Went here after hearing about it on Chris Evans. Go to Whitby a lot but had never seen it before. Anyway, the food was fast, tasty, nutritious and the venue was quirky . Will definitely go again.

“A must for any vegetarian visiting Whitby.”

Traditional grub at its best, in a wonderful historic building. My family loved the hommity pie, mash and pies. Happy customers.

“Great Place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 30, 2013

Visited Humble Pie & Mash 2 weeks ago, have to say the pie i had was great, ( beef & stout ) my wife never eats pies, but after reading the reviews, persuaded her to try one, she had the Chicken & Apple & thought it was lovely, mash was also great ( no lumps ) all in all was very impressed with the service & ambience, this along with St Hildas holiday apartment must be the best value for money in Whitby

“Tasty, filling, good value and quick!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2013

I was surprised to find that good tasting food can come quick. Much tastier than the big M. It was so filling though I just had to walk around Whitby just a little bit longer......lol.
The tables are quirky in keeping with the old building itself. I particularly liked the way the experience was old-style themed right from the front door to the plate. It felt like the 1940s and the smiling staff reflected that. Tea was well made and I heard a few customers asking for extra strong or milky. In many places I can't imagine you would dare ask that.
So go for the experience and a great selection of pies without the need for those greasy chips. Smooth fluffy mash wins every time. The Lamb and the Minced Beef pies were very tasty (we halved them so we could get a taste of both).
Added bonus - they are open on Sundays this summer.

“Good value honest food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2013

You just cannot beat this place for value. The steak & ale pie is just great with big chunks of steak.
The Mississippi pie is homemade and delicious .
