“Cosy, luxurious and relaxing”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 12, 2014

This is the third time we've stayed at The Traddock and it was just as good as ever.
We've always stayed in the winter and there is nothing nicer than getting back to the hotel at 4pm on a dark rainy afternoon and sitting in the cosy lounge with a pot of tea, the papers and a quick game of scrabble or chess before dinner. There are plenty of lounge areas and the rooms are very comfortable, we stayed in Norber on the ground floor.

We had dinner bed and breakfast for two nights and the food was fantastic, we particularly loved the Turbot and for dessert the Prune and Armagnac soufflé. Breakfast was cooked freshly to order with the most fantastic bacon and sausages and before that I had figs in an orange and honey compote - I'm going to have to try and find a recipe for that as it was delicious.

We loved our between Christmas and New Year break and will definitely be back to stay again - perhaps we'll get around to staying in the summer too.

We spent 3 nights here with friends, we previously stayed for Hogmanay 5 years ago. We all agreed we had a fabulous stay before but this time The Traddock really surpassed that. The hotel is run in a most professional manner and the staff are superb whilst at the same time incredibly warm and friendly. The rooms are lovely and the food is great. One of our party of 8 has a wheat and gluten free diet and the chef served up delicious dishes for her to accommodate this. Our New Year's Day hamper was a delight and kept us fed the following day as well. There are plentiful areas where couples or groups can sit and relax on comfy sofas or by the fireside. My husband and I also stayed here for my birthday earlier in the year and again we were so well looked after we couldn't wait for our stay with our friends and a good time was had by all. If you want a treat, stay here :-)

I recently visited the Traddock to celebrate the New Year and my 30th birthday in style. I have to say that we had an absolutely fantastic time, despite New Year's day being an incredibly rainy day. The hotel is full of country charm, complete with beautifully furnished sitting rooms and constantly roaring fires.

We stayed in the Ingleborough (Room 11), which was an attic double room with en-suite shower. I have to say that the bed was one of the comfiest I have ever slept in. The room had it's own tea and coffee facility's with fresh milk and biscuits provided daily. (The homemade biscuits are delicious).

As for the New Year's Eve, 6 course feast! well this really was a treat. The food was excellent along with the service. The staff were friendly, and very helpful indeed. Our night of entertainment also included dancing with a live Ceildh band and a midnight firework display.

We were also treated to a New Years Day, Hamper following breakfast. The Hamper was stuffed full of more homemade treats! Tartlets, Chocolates, Biscuits, Sandwiches, Italian style - Cold meats, Olives, Sun-dried Tomatoes, Bread and cheese and some Bubbly!

Our final evening included yet another fantastic meal (This really is an indulgent package) followed by a casino night. This really was great fun and the staff helped to explain the rules and include everyone into the games.

Overall we had a wonderful time and would highly recommend The Traddock, and it's New Years package to anybody!

We booked after reading some reviews on here and they certainly weren't wrong. The place is a real find and this will be the first of many visits as it's within an hour's travelling distance. Some hotels don't try hard enough, others try too hard. This place gets it just right. Wonderful bedroom, beautiful public rooms, cosy, comfortable and relaxing. Staff were very friendly and very well trained indeed. The 2 AA rosettes are well deserved and dinner was a delight accompanied by a very well selected wine list. Breakfast was delicious and cooked to order without the 'hot buffet' favoured by so many places.

Having designed many hotels over the years and stayed in numerous others I can honestly say that the Traddock is our favourite outside London (and we only have one London favourite).

My wife and I stopped for one night 17th December to celebrate our anniversary having located the hotel on a dog friendly web site. From initial contact right through to our departure the staff were outstanding. The room was immaculately clean and there were lots of little touches like home made biscuits and fresh oranges in the room on our arrival.
A special table was set up to allow us to dine and keep our dog with us and were were treated to true fine dining. (As an aside the Prune and Armangac souffle was a revalation.)
Before we left we were shown round the other rooms and the newly decorated suite is truely fabulous.
If you want to be pampered and and fed like royalty then I cannot recommend the hotel enough. All the staff seemed proud of the hotel and it showed in their helpfulness.
Well done Traddock, we will be back.

Room Tip: If you can stretch to the suite go for it. its worth it.

The Traddock has become an annual pilgrimage for us and friends in December. We love the warm welcome, the lovely comfortable rooms with thoughtfully provided little extras ( fresh milk in a thermos, homemade biscuits and fresh fruit, sumptuously soft fluffy towels,a proper hairdryer and Molton Brown toiletries to name a few). The food is consistently excellent, beautifully presented and cooked, and very generous. The hotel is in a beautiful setting with pretty gardens and surrounded by the spectacular Yorkshire Dales, which is wonderful for walkers. We love to visit Settle, and its a short drive to Kendal, great for shopping.
