We've been coming to this stylish restaurant regularly for the best part of 20 years and it is still our favourite of Norwich's fine dining restaurants. The menu changes frequently and always has a good range of meat and fish dishes and there is always something interesting for vegetarians too. The food is top quality, always well cooked and delicious. I can honestly say I have never had a bad meal here. The owners are very good at selecting good wines and the wine list is always interesting. We have also really enjoyed some wine tasting evenings here. The staff are always very professional, friendly and attentive, but unobtrusive. We eat out quite a lot and have tried most of Norwich's restaurants, but this remains our firm favourite because of the consistency of great food and wine and very reasonable prices for this standard of restaurant.
The two courses for £10 at lunchtime is an absolute bargain and I like the fact that the restaurant now opens at 6pm. Last night it was packed within half an hour of opening. I had a slow cooked pigs head terrine which just melted in the mouth, followed by crispy duck on creamed potato with kale. A couple of weeks ago, I had venison which was cooked to perfection and is highly recommended. We both had two courses, a 1/4 bottle of prosecco each and shared a bottle of very nice pinotage, the bill came in at under £75 which compares very favourably with some of the other top restaurants in Norwich. If you haven't tried St Benedict's yet, you are missing out!
