Description: St Benedict's is an authentic French bistro in Norwich's quirky St Benedict's Street. Friendly and relaxed, the dining room attracts Francophiles and fashionistas alike, and is perfect for an indulgent late-night meal, post-shopping pick-me-up or a chic chocolat chaud with friends. We love the slow-cooked crispy duck with braised chicory balsamic reduction and grilled naval orange and the double baked cheese souffle. St Benedict's warm, Van-Gogh-esque navy and yellow interior, sensational wine list and fantastically French waiting staff will transport you across the channel before you can say steak frites.

“Still my favourite Norwich restaurant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 27, 2013

We've been coming to this stylish restaurant regularly for the best part of 20 years and it is still our favourite of Norwich's fine dining restaurants. The menu changes frequently and always has a good range of meat and fish dishes and there is always something interesting for vegetarians too. The food is top quality, always well cooked and delicious. I can honestly say I have never had a bad meal here. The owners are very good at selecting good wines and the wine list is always interesting. We have also really enjoyed some wine tasting evenings here. The staff are always very professional, friendly and attentive, but unobtrusive. We eat out quite a lot and have tried most of Norwich's restaurants, but this remains our firm favourite because of the consistency of great food and wine and very reasonable prices for this standard of restaurant.

The two courses for £10 at lunchtime is an absolute bargain and I like the fact that the restaurant now opens at 6pm. Last night it was packed within half an hour of opening. I had a slow cooked pigs head terrine which just melted in the mouth, followed by crispy duck on creamed potato with kale. A couple of weeks ago, I had venison which was cooked to perfection and is highly recommended. We both had two courses, a 1/4 bottle of prosecco each and shared a bottle of very nice pinotage, the bill came in at under £75 which compares very favourably with some of the other top restaurants in Norwich. If you haven't tried St Benedict's yet, you are missing out!

“Fabulous Italian. Would definitely recommend.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 24, 2013

We wandered around Norwich looking for somewhere different to eat. As we live near Norwich we have tried a few, but haven't found anything to compete with this one. We had lunch and for £10 we had two courses and a glass of wine and we couldn't fault it. The surroundings were lovely, the service was efficient and polite and the food was delicious. We will definitely be going in the evening with friends. You must try it!!!

“Excellent service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 13, 2013

Visited here Jan 2013 with friends food tasty and hot, wine was nice, but the biggest thing was the attentive courteous service, the simple things matter, took our coats, brought water without being asked, replaced it without being asked, topped up the oils and vinegar, took away empties, checked on us visually a few times I noticed without being pushy or obtrusive. All of this should be normal in restaurants, but sadly is not in most, a pleasant evening. I have only given 4 out of 5 as I am a vegetarian and there was only one choice.

“Magical Christmas”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 12, 2013

I booked this restaurant for our firm's Christmas meal. There were 17 of us, we pre-ordered our meal from the very extensive menu. We had the upstairs room to ourselves, and it looked beautiful. All through the evening the staff were constantly checking that we had everything we needed, we never had to chase them for drinks or anything they anticipated our every need. The menu was superb with something for everyone. All tastes were well catered for. Really good value and an experience I can't wait to repeat.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 9, 2012

had lunch here last week our 2nd visit , and it was better than the firs visit , which i could not fault .
had venison terrine , and it was THE BEST terrine i have ever had , great combination of fruit , spices , and venison , main course was slow cooked lamb , ( have to say was the scraggiest piece of lamb i have ever seen hehe ) but great taste , and surprisingly lean , no waste at all , but the spicy couscous was par excellence . the desert was ok , im not a desert fan so tasted it , then gave it to my over wight partner hehe .
2 bottles of wine 2 or 3 soft drinks 6 people £110.00 .
beat that if u can .
