“My third stay here....”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 5, 2010

We have been coming to this hotel each summer for the last 3 years. We stay for about 2 weeks while visiting family. The hotel is affordable and cheerful, the breakfasts are quite adequate, and the staff are lovely. We stayed at this hotel when it was The Sports Village, then it was completely refurbished and made into a Holiday Inn about 3 years ago. My only complaint is that when Holiday Inn took over the hotel, they installed windows that don't open so that you can never air out the room. This may not bother some people but if you suffer from badly with dustmite allergies as I do, its a big negative. Even though the hotel is only 3 years old, I notice each time I stay here, my allergies play up more as the carpets and drapes get older. However, the convenient situation next to Asda, a great pub yards away, affordable price and great staff are the reasons we return. As for parking.... not really getting the complaints because there are plenty of car park spaces including the whole of ASDA carpark. In fact, at night we deliberately park in the ASDA car park at so that our rental car is less likely to get scratched. Walk a few yards people......

Thank you for taking the time to post your review on Trip Advisor. Here at the Holiday Inn Express Norwich, we are dedicated to providing the highest standard of quality and service to our guests.

Thank you very much for your positive comments regarding our hotel rooms, as we pride ourselves on offering the highest standard of cleanliness at all times.

I am very sorry that you were not completely satisfied with our breakfast offering, and would like to reassure you that if we are made aware of any dietary requirements by our guests, we will endeavor to provide an alternative option.

I would also like to make you aware that we are currently reviewing our Internet offering, which may come to include free wireless Internet in the future.

Please accept my sincere apologies with regards to the problems you had with our car park. However, due to extreme weather conditions this year, the hotel was not able to source as much grit as we needed to cover the entire car park, due to extremely limited availability in the UK.

I would like to thank you for choosing the Holiday Inn Express Norwich, and we look forward to welcoming you back in the near future.

As a Gold Member of the Holiday Inn Priority Club I've stayed in a wide variety of Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express.

This one was good value and consistent with the standard one would expect. Room and cleanliness were perfect.

The weakness of the Express is the breakfast, and the selection for those with dietary restrictions. Gluten Free is a particular breakfast problem, as bread and cereal is the main item available.

In the modern day and age free WiFi is available more and more, and the hotel has to complete with bars and restaurants that offer it to attract clients. It is becoming a factor in my hotel selection.

As mentioned by the other reviewers I found parking a minor issue, especially when the surface was covered in ice and snow during the winter. No one seemed to think it was their problem to treat the ice!

The hotel is well located within easy access to the city centre, the ASDA which is next door and a nice pub nearby. The room was clean and spacious. But the air conditioner in our room (211) did not work and neither the telephone set. We had to go downstairs to ask the hotel staff to come and have a look at it. Young Polish woman, unfortunately we did not note down her name, came and attempted to help us. She was professional and friendly. She tried but could not fix the broken air conditioner. Oh before we forget she had earlier claimed the AC had been turned off in the manager's office! Were they expecting guests to freeze in subzero conditions? She eventually produced or offered a puny external radiator. It could have been really unpleasant in the freezing cold snowy winter without her help. We expect better from an outfit that belongs to the" Intercontinental Group".

Thank you for posting your recent feedback on Trip Advisor. It's your views and opinions that allow us to constantly monitor and improve our service.

I would personally like to offer my sincere apologies for the problems that you experienced with the air conditioning during your stay with us, and would like to assure you that these problems have now been rectified. Further more to your feedback, the master controls for the hotel's air conditioning are controlled from the managers office. I believe that the staff member you spoke with was attempting to reboot the system, to activate the air conditioning.

I would also like to thank you for the positive feedback regarding our staff and customer service, as we always try to provide the highest quality service.

We look forward to welcoming you back in the near future.

we stayed in this hotel as part of a group attending a table tennis tournament. The checking in was very easy and effiecent. The room was very clean and quite spacious. We had a couple of drinks in the hotel which were quite expensive but to be expected. You could always pop over to asda and get a bottle of wine to have in your room if you wanted.
the breakfast was excellent with a great variety and eat as much as you wanted. loads of fresh fruit juice and coffee.
we had a day pass for the gym next door, cost £10. I used the gym, pool, sauna and steam all excellent. we also had a drink in the bar of gym that night. really good night.
all in all i would recommend this hotel as a very good basis value hotel.
Norwich is a very interesting city with loads to see and do. take some time out and take in the sights

Tempted by the price we selected this hotel. On arrival we found one of the duvets to be dirty. This was changed immediately. After unpacking the car we went to use the ensuite bathroom. There were still marks from the last occupant in the toilet and toilet paper over the floor. We complained to reception and after telling us it was bleach marks came to clean the dark brown stains off the toilet. They left the last occupants toilet paper still on the floor. The website lists a sofa bed in the room. This did not exist. There were stains on the carpet. Even the pen lid was bent and there was a hair on the notepad.

Stayed here for one night over a weekend in October. Checkin was very efficient - staff explained all facilities and breakfast times etc. Room was your basic Holiday Inn Express room and clean and spacious. Buffet breakfast served in the nice reception area downstairs with very moreish croissants and good Tchibo coffee! All in all a pleasant stay.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 17, 2009

We recently stayed for one night at the Holiday Inn Express while visiting family in Norfolk. Our overall view of the hotel was excellent value for money. We pre-paid / booked via the internet and paid only £45 B&B for a double room.
The hotel is easily located on the A140 just north of Norwich and is located on a shopping / leisure park. From the outside the building looks a bit “1970’s” but inside it is lovely and clean and modern. The hotel has clearly recently been renovated and the reception was friendly and well laid out. The rooms are well appointed, clean and modern. Each room has a flat screen digital TV, shower gel, tea & coffee making facilities and hair dryer. Our bathroom was a good size with a walk in shower (no bath).
The hotel has lots of car parking and also a small bar for evening drinks / light meals. Breakfast is continental, and self service, but nevertheless excellent. There was a wide range of choices from pastries, toast, rolls, cereals, fruits, yogurts and drinks. The staff were all friendly and very helpful.
Overall we have stayed in hotels that cost twice as much and weren’t nearly as good. Recommended!
