My wife and I stayed two nights in the hotel and despite the great location will definitely NOT return. Reasons:

1 On returning to the room in the evening my wife asked me to close the window as the traffic outside was very loud and there was a strong draught. Imagine my surprise when I discovered that the window WAS closed! The window, despite the hotel being very new, was so badly-fitting that sleep after 06.00 was impossible as a result of traffic noise from the busy road outside. There can be no excuse for such a bad-fitting window.

2 A matter of minutes after coming into the room my wife took her shoes off and seconds later found a piece of chewing gum on the bottom of her foot. Ugghhh! The carpet looked very dirty.

3 On arrival there was a large ball of brown fluff in the corner of the bathroom. I was surprised that it was still there on the second day of our stay. I had to dispose of it myself.

There were six of us and we had booked a couple of rooms in the Travelodge Norwich Central as it was near to the City centre. We were so satisfied with our stay that we stayed an extra night! Reception was fast and very friendly, the receptionist advised me where to get a good deal on parking locally as the hotel does not have its own car park - with her help I paid just £1.50 for an evening and night through to 11.00 the following day. The rooms were clean and quite spacious with tea and coffee making facilities provided. Breakfast was extra and a wide selection of hot and cold was available. Unfortunately one member of staff was running the whole dining room on her own on one morning, but she coped pretty well! Travelodge management please note that if you don't put more staff on you may lose the good ones that you have! The location is great, right beside the inner ring road and a few minutes' walk to the main shops, the Market, The Forum etc. Any complaints? Well, at £60 (not including the breakfast) for two persons I would have appreciated shampoo and shower gel. Travelodge state that these are deliberately not provided on grounds of economy...

I stayed here with my girlfriend who was on a business trip, booked at short notice. The room was clean enough but everything is so functional and pared to the bone that it was quite depressing. Being
on the ring road it is very noisy and the soundproofing beween the rooms is poor.

Even the business traveller could surely get a better deal at a local
b&b?

I don't think this hotel is as bad as the reviews say it is. It is a very clean, modern hotel. The rooms are clean. Like all travel lodges it doesn't include breakfast. I actually did have breakfast as my company paid for me. For £7 I think you can find a lot better if you go to a local cafe.

As for the noise from the Bus Station, as the windows are double glazed I didn't notice it.

Overall if you are looking for a central, no frills hotel this is the place for you.
