“Painfully average”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 25, 2013

Dont really need to mention the cakes they sell them selves and are worth putting on the few extra pounds for, the coffee is average which is a shame because the illy coffee bean is a good one but the barista needs to know how to texture milk to enhance the flavour. My real gripe with the restaurant is there doesn't seem to be enough English people working there maybe none at all and it shows when it comes to the standard of the service and the staff look scruffy and UN shaved looking like they need a good wash

“to die for cakes!!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 11, 2013

came here for a catch up and cake with a friend and was lovely. understand why the places is always really busy. the hot chocolate was really nice and creamy. i also indulged in a strawberry tart cake which was delicious!! the cafe was really clean and well presented, and the cake stand is something not to be missed!

“Not overly impressed for my first experience.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 30, 2013

Came here with friends after they'd raved about the place from trying it before. Admittedly we did come on a Saturday afternoon so it was very very full, we didn't have to wait an overly long time but after about 8 minutes a waitress told us there was a seat which was normally for 2 which 'if we squeezed in' she could fit us in (there were 3 of us).
After sitting for a few minutes at the relatively cramped table a waiter told us there was a 4 seat table avaliable in which we might be more comfortable at. However after sitting down for a few seconds another waitress told us to move (without an apology) because there was another table of 3 who wanted to sit down, so humiliatingly we had to move back to our original table - I was not impressed and thought this was appaling service.
We ordered some cakes which were so-so, I have a sweet tooth and even though they were presented well they were very sickly. My rating would have been lower than this, however our waiter for the rest of the service was friendly, chatty and helped make me feel more positive about the Patisserie. For now, this was a very bad experience, I hope if I try on a quieter day I might have more luck.

“worst service and food ever”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed March 28, 2013

the little back room was full of tables patiently waiting for their food. As we all got more exasperated at the waiting time, food suddenly started to appear from every direction. One table got the wrong food. The main theme was cold food, no cutlery to eat it with. One poor lady had a hair in her food, it was taken back and at the speed it camour e back, it couldn't have been cooked fresh again. All of our food was luke warm, 3 of us unhappy. Sent the food back and after a lengthy wait, received stone cold plates with luke warm food again. The waitress said there was a problem with the kitchen only having 2 members of staff. Was offered free cake and 1 meal free. We bought 6 coffees between us and told her we weren't paying for the food and didn't want free cake. What a waste of time going there. The manager just didn't know what to do, amazingly useless.

“Noisy, crowed, rushed....not what I want for a Sunday coffee”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 18, 2013

I occasionally visit the Norwich branch of this national chain and mostly find it busy, but friendly and relaxing.

NOT Yesterday !

There wasn't a line of people waiting for a table, in fact, no one was waiting.

However, the casual staff were too pressured and the noise of crashing crockery was enough to make us leave.

The normal weekday staff are fabulous....delightful in every way. But yesterday (Sunday 17th March) was an altogether different experience.

I will go back, but not on a Sunday.
