Quite by accident we found a brilliant guest house on the outskirts of Norwich. No way would we have found this without directions! We booked online into another guest house, when we pulled up it was double booked and the guy sent us off down the road to the Costessey Guest house in New Costessey off Norwich road. Thank goodness we thought.
Quiet little estate of houses and half way down the road (129) sits the guest house belonging to Paul and Lesley. What a lovely couple. The bungalow has a complete floor added to it with half a dozen guest rooms. Very new and clean and modern. Plenty of walking room round the bed. Good sized bed with new furnishings, dressing table, bedside tables and a stand with tea making facilities.Fresh milk provided all day. Giant built in wardrobe with full length mirrors. Onsuite very nicely done. The shower is big enough for two and works brilliantly.
The very best thing is the hospitality from Lesley and Paul. Lesley greets you and tells you everything you need to know, where to go, how much for a taxi etc etc. Paul is the cook - and what a splended breakfast you get. I opted for a small breakfast and there was plenty, this is included in the price. Along with the traditional fry up (including freshly home grown tomatoes), you get fruit juice, cereals and toast - however, there is a menu to fill in with your choices when you arrive. Where else could you get bed and breakfast for £56 in peak season on a saturday night???
Do check out the garden, massive and very nicely done. Paul grows all his own veg and salad stuff. Also they have their own swimming pool to use.
You just do not expect all of this on the outskirts of a beautiful town - Do check out Norwich and all it has to offer. Only £8 for a taxi into town if you want to drink.
