This wonderful building and its owners and staff really make you feel welcome. We stayed 2 nights and had a spacious and very comfortable room with a large bathroom. Common areas are inviting and well maintained and the food was a very nice surprise. We had dinner there both nights and the service, menu and food was excellent both times. Hot breakfast is made to order and just as good as you should expect of a hotel like this. Strongly recommended!

An excellent hotel with highest of standards throughout. Bright and spotlessly clean with friendly and attentive proprietor and staff. Cosy and relaxing atmosphere. Comfortable room with very good facilities. Food first class, the chef is to be congratulated! Very good wines at reasonable prices. Convenient bus stop outside hotel gate for a short ride into the town centre. On our next visit to the area we would not hesitate to stay at the Old Rectory again.

“Outstanding in every way”

The Old Rectory

Mar 19, 2008

We travel from Canada to the UK at least twice a year. We always ensure that we have a booking at The Old Rectory. It is small, it is is everything one wants when away from home. Chris greets us and helps us with luggage (and we do not travel lightly) there is a welcoming cup of tea in the lounge, the bedroom has such a wonderful Jane Austen atmosphere, the beds are so comfortable, everywhere is so clean (without being chain hotel clinical), the food is beautifully cooked, well presented and varied and although we could stay with friends, it is part of our holiday to stay here. Yes, of course, Milli and Rollo have something to do with it, but we are so very pleased we have discovered it

We have stayed at the Old Rectory for over 10 years & try to stay @ least once a year - don't get me wrong I usually subscribe to the "don't go back" philosophy, but this really is a little gem.
I have have stayed at too many "indifferent" hotels in my life but you could never label the Old Rectory with this comment.
Chris & Sally (& now James!) + the loyal staff have always made us very welcome, and indeed, now we feel like it is our home in Norfolk.
We have stayed here with friends (there were 10 of us for dinner on our last Saturday night stay) and have recommended this hotel to many others. All who have stayed have enjoyed their visit,
We will certainly be back in 2008

We only stayed one night, but I would recommend this hotel if only on the quality of the food. We had both Dinner and Breakfast and both were delicious - a testament to the cook and the quality ingredients - often locally sourced. "The Rectory" breakfast was especially tasty.

Great hosts and a good location close to the centre of town - easily accessed by water boat or bus.
