“Standards dropping - Food still good.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 20, 2014

Quick update to my last review. Service tonight was terrible. Arrived, waited at the podium for five minutes. Seated. Waited for fifteen minutes for the same server who seated us to come back.

Ordered. Waited.

Eight minutes later, drinks arrived. Waited.

Seventeen minutes after ordering, starters arrived. Food quality still good. Waited for mains...

Mains arrived fifty minutes after arrival. Food quality good.

Reflecting so many other reviews... really need to pick up the pace on the service, Fatso's. The place is also in dire need of a refurbishment. With The Racecourse just up the road (another Anglia Restaurants place) having had a fantastic full refirbishmnet recently - Fatso's could definitely benefit from the same treatment.

We may be back, but it will be one last chance. Because I'm now 38, and I may not live long enough to go through another waiting experience like that one. Shame, because I used to enjoy this place.

“Very Disappointing”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed February 10, 2014

Having visited the very good central Norwich restaurant many years ago I had high hopes for our visit. Unfortunately, the whole evening was a total let down. The service was appalling, not once were we asked if we would like more drinks and I had to resort to a trip to the bar in the long wait between courses. The quality and presentation of the food left a lot to be desired. Part of our meal was not as described on the menu and when mention of this was made to the manager he seemed totally clueless about the content of the menu!

“Appalling”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed February 9, 2014

Went to a party . All food pre ordered as requested meal took three hours. one waiter . One chef dreadful service . Seafood salad consisted of scampi and prawns which were cold . Had to wait forty minutes to get desserts cleared some of the plates myself as they had been left so long. Toilets were disgusting and obviously not checked during the day. Would not visit this establishment again

“Fatso's Good”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 8, 2014 via mobile

Ate there Saturday lunch time. It was nice and quiet, no problems with noisy kids like previous reviewers. I had the sirloin steak which was cooked perfectly, my colleague had the southern fried chicken which was described as delicious. We both had fries, no problems there. My accompaniments were veg cooked crispy, meaning al dente, broccoli, red peppers and French beans, sounds an odd combination but it works. Also on the plate were battered onion rings and mushrooms. The chicken, which came with corn on the cob and home made coleslaw, got the thumbs up. Pleasant friendly service and spotlessly clean toilets made this a dining experience that I will repeat.
By the time we left though, I could hear the problems that other diners have identified.

“Great Food!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 5, 2014

We visited on the 4th Feb and both had the double stacked burger with wedges and a side portion of spicy rice. The meals were lovely, well cooked, and plenty of it! The service was good and the place appeared to be very clean. Only thing that spoiled it was screaming kids running riot through the pub who's parents were not supervising them appropriately and seemed more content with sitting on there backsides treating the place as though it was a play barn. They were obviously attending a party but I think the pub would attract more business from after work diners as there is a lot of industrial business in the area. Workers must be put off coming with the noise of kids parties. Based on how nice the food is there was hardly anyone one eating but later on in evening this hopefully wouldnt be an issue so its unfair to mark down too much on atmosphere.Cant fault staff though as one member of staff in particular did his best to try and contain them to one area but I think it should be made a rule that children are only allowed in one area of the pub and be asked to leave if their kids are unruly, or better still banned all together!
