This should be such agood pub ,but the owner has made no effort to do anything with it and the staff don't seem that bothered either. It would be nice not to have to wait to be served while the bar staff go outside for a cigarette, happens alot, nobody behind the bar.You sometimes feel you are intruding on a staff evening out, those on and off duty congregate to one end of the bar to sit and talk , so nobody is being very attentive to serving the customer. Having said that the place would probably be empty without them.Shame it was working really well untill they got rid of the chef manager chap. Place is crying out for someone to take charge and make a go of it.

“Rude staff”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 18, 2013

I have been here lately for a drink but when a man came in and asked for food the chef who at this time was not in the kitchen but in the bar laughed and refused to cook for him I found this patronising to the customer and very rude I think that whoever owns this pub should think about their staff , the times I have been in here I have only found a couple Of staff who seem to care and the others need to take a leaf out of their book and treat the place wiv respect...

“Good location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 15, 2013

This pub is in a very nice location, just over the road from the river. There was ample parking when we arrived. The staff were attentive, though failed to ask if our meal was OK. We would have then told them that either the knives were blunt or the beef was tough -probably a bit of both. The vegetables were good but only one roast potato! The meal was not well presented as the meat was completely covering all the vegetables instead of being arranged around the plate so what was there was on view. The whitebait starter was served on a wooden block with a mayo type dressing-a plate would have been much more hygenic. The soup starter was delicious.

“Just don't bother”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed January 12, 2013 via mobile

Tried to visit for a bite to eat. Waited at the bar, where the barmaid served the regulars first, then herself, before coming over and asking if we wanted anything. I asked about eating, she said there was 'no chance' of that. We found her possibly the worst member of pub staff we've ever come across and walked out. This is the third time I've tried to eat here and it seems impossible to do so much of the time. They're either 'too busy', 'not cooking today', or 'the kitchen's closed' (this at 7.30 in the evening). If you're not going to do food properly, don't bother. We won't be darkening their door again.
