Were booked for 5 nights, left after 4.
Negative features: Hotel greatly in need of refurbishment, shabby worn carpets, battered paint. The first room we were allocated had obviously had a smoker in it, witness the stubs on the flat roof outside the window, and had not been cleaned very well, never mind the dust on the bedside tables etc. The 2nd room was better, but very hard mattresses, and a lot of road noise so neither of us slept well. Breakfasts not very impressive. Lousy coffee. Expensive for what and where it was. They tried to charge me for the "complementary" newspaper
Positive features: we ate in twice, and both times the evening meals were very good. Service was good. The choice of music in the restaurant was unusual and mostly very good, especially the Pat Metheny! Good and interesting art work. Enjoyed the swimming pool.
When we left a day early (it had been prepaid in full, saying no refunds possible) the receptionist counted the prepaid 5th night towards the cost of our meals, which we appreciated.
Overall, would not recommend it. The architecture has not aged very well. The rooms at the front would benefit from triple glazing.
avoid rooms facing the Ring Road!
