Jul 14, 2009 | Trip type: Friends getaway New

Stayed here with friends for 4 nights.

Position: About 2 miles from centre of Norwich, but a straight forward trip into the city. Maybe 25 miles to the coast and in the middle of some pleasant countryside.
Imposing Manor House with a golf course attached.

Reception: Helpful and happy. Had to report the fan not working in our friends room. Nothing changed for 4 days. Still not working when we left. Room staff forgot to leave some milk. Reported that and it was there before we got back to the room!!

Dining: Two restaurants. A posh one that only those on expense accounts and trying to impress their partners would go to, and a Carvery which was more than adequate. We only stayed in for one meal and it was very nice. Breakfast is excellent. That again is buffet but you can order things like porridge, kippers and eggs Benedctine etc. All staff in here were great and nothing too much trouble.

Rooms: Light and airey. Good sized bathroom. Very clean. Friendly room staff who were happy to help if you were something short. For example, there were 2 extra pillows in the wardrobe but no pillow cases on them. Spoke to staff and they arrived within moments. No complaints at all.

Bars: The usual hotel rip off that encourages people to smuggle their own hip flasks in!! 2 glassses of wine and 2 single house brandies =£22.50. Make your own minds up about that!!

Leisure facilities: Went to pool and whirlpool. Both had pleasent atmosphere. There is also a steam room and a sauna. And don't forget the golf course

General: Seemed rather more buisiness people in than holidaymakers. If you can get it at the right price, have a hipflask that will fit in a handbag.and don't mind paying over the odds for food then this is the place for you. I would certainly go again if I ever went to that part of the country.

Having visited Dunstan Hall 29 times over a number of years, our recent stay was excellent. A friendly welcome followed by good food and excellent service was followed by a pleasant round of golf.
The reviews of 2005 are completely out of date. Much refurbishment has taken place and it's now a very good venue.

Don't be fooled by the pictures - This isn't a luxury Country House hotel. What it is, is a mass Conference, Banqueting, Golfing Hotel, clothed in good looking pseudo tudor brickwork with a decent spa. Food is mass catering, but staff efficient. Biggest problems are the iffy heating/ventilation and the high prices for drink and food .. Apart from breakfast I recommend you eat @ the Wildebeest Arms a mile away

We booked a special rate, 2-night break and arrived with an open mind, but slightly wary after reading some other reviews.
The staff were all welcoming, friendly and helpful.
There wasn't any soap in the bathroom but reception immediately found some for us and apologised for the oversight.
There was plenty of choice on the breakfast buffet and we found the food to be well cooked and tasty.
We ate one meal in the Brasserie, served by an attentive waitress, and enjoyed what we ordered.
The location is absolutely stunning and Norwich and surrounding areas within easy reach.
We used the pool area twice and again were impressed with the facilities, I particularly liked the fact that the water was very warm to swim in. Staff again were very friendly.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would happily return again, hopefully soon.

Booked in for one night on a trip back from brighton. Loads of parking, efficient reception servfice and room had that touch of luxury about it. Used the bar and resturant in the evening and the public areas all warm and friendly. Did see some comments about the hotel being cold, but was definatly not the case when we stayed. Service in the resturant a little slow and a bit hit and miss, wrong drinks delivered etc.

Kids loved the breakfast, especially the forest fruits.

Not the most accessable grounds, well we couldnt find anywhere for much of an evening stroll.
