“Enjoyed my stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 19, 2014

I stayed two nights. Staff was friendly and helpful. My room was comfortable, and clean, and no noise problems. Breakfast was good, as was the pub meal I had the night I arrived (though portions were much too large for me to finish). The location was very convenient to sites in town (cathedral, castle, etc.). The only downside that could be a problem for some is that there is no elevator and the stairs are a bit steep and narrow. I was on the top (third) floor. However, the staff were quick to help with my luggage and there are good handrails, so it was okay for me.

This hotel was lovely. The decor, the rooms, the staff and the location, what more could one ask for. This was booked last minute and boy was it the best hotel we have been in a long time. So handy for the walk to the city centre and back. Parking was not a problem as we got one right outside the front door of the hotel. Great value for money and the breakfast was amazing. Very hot well cooked food, couldn't have been better. I would definitely recommend this hotel and would book again, next time we are in Norwich.

Room Tip: Easy walk from the main city centre and great value for money.

Spent a couple of nights in May 2014. Hotel very well situated for train and bus connections. Twin bedded room very clean, modern and beds were comfortable. Lovely bathroom. Excellent breakfast. Staff very helpful and welcoming. Couldn't find anything to fault and would be happy to recommend to friends.

We stayed here on Saturday 17th May 2014 for one night, very pleasant staff on booking in, nothing too much trouble. Room no 10 light airy spacious, only problem was being at the front of the hotel on the main road it was a bit noisy at night, we had the windows open because it was hot, but not the hotels fault that there was a lot going on outside for some reason. The bed comfortable, extra pillows available, large flat screen tv, hairdryer, bathroom well equipped with plenty of towels, shampoo, soap etc. I know all this should really be taken for granted but having stayed at the MJB owned Plantation Hotel in Norwich last year, I don't take these things for granted - see separate review of that hotel and be afraid!
Another review mentioned the lack of parking but we stayed on Saturday, arriving after 6.00pm and there is parking in Stracey Road free after then until Monday morning, so not a problem for us.
The Stracey Hotel provided an excellent breakfast this morning, full English freshly cooked and delicious. This hotel has my vote and I will definitely stay again (but will ask for a room at the back!)

Room Tip: I would ask for a room away from the main road, the rooms overlooking Stracey Road itself would prob...

Booked in for a one night stay as an alternative to the holiday inn down the road which we routinely use when visiting our daughter. The stay was fine, breakfast was good and we would be happy to use the hotel again. On the down side the parking is a problem (no hotel parking available) which would have been more of an issue if we had booked for any longer length of time.

If you don't want to stay in a bland hotel chain then is a great place to stay. Easy walk from the station and convenient for exploring Norwich. Obviously recently refurbished to a very high standard the rooms are welcoming, stylish and clean. I received a very welcoming, friendly and professional service from all staff.

We have just spent 2 nights en route to Harwich to join a cruise, and what a wonderful surprise it has been, to find this hotel.
It is situated close to the station, city centre and the river, but in a quiet neighbourhood.
The cleanliness, decor, facilities and food are all of a very high standard, but the service is exemplary.
The jewel in this hotels crown, for us, was Josh, but all staff were totally professional, helpful and caring.
We cannot recommend this hotel highly enough, thank you Stracey Hotel.

Room Tip: We requested a lower floor room, and we're offered a choice of 3, all very satisfactory, but we...
