“Fairly average but a decent enough place for an ovenight stay - plentiful parking space”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 11, 2013

This hotel is nothing special but it is pleasant enough for an overnight stay. The bedroom was clean & the bed comfortable. Full English breakfast is reasonably priced at £5.99.

The public rooms - bar, breakfast room & reception area are rather drab & dated and could do with refurbishment.

All the staff we encountered were welcoming, friendly and helpful.

Room Tip: No lift so request a ground floor room if you have mobility problems

Location - outside Middlesborough. The center of the city is reached with a 15£ taxi ride. During traffic hours, it takes up to 1 hour to reach the city, if there is an accident on the highway.

Stores in the neighborhood - A Tesco shop is 2 minutes away for those who want to buy food there.

Reception - Everybody is friendly.

Room - A little bigger than a queen size bed. No fridge. Bathroom products are limited.

WIFI - Free. But the connection was regularly interrupted. That was annoying.

Breakfast - Poor choice of food.

Conclusions-
The price is quite cheap and the quality of the hotel probably corresponds to the price.

Room Tip: Some rooms have poor access to wifi connections.

It was pleasing to see that some improvements had been made. First was new bedroom doors on the ground floor, My roon No 5 had obviously been redecorated but OMG who is the colour scheme advisor this room is at the back of the building with high trees there is very little natural light, so the bedhead wall is papered in a dark brown paper and the walls are magnolia and what could only be described as kakhi green. The ensuite is the same. does nothing for the ambiance of the room makes it look dingy The matress on the bed has seen better days
Went to bar for a meal ordered the Steak and Ale Pie well what arrived was like a pastry brick and gues what when I burst through ther half inch crust there was 5 pieces of steak. Breakfast was good but slow service when I wen in there was about 15 people and one waitress
Not all negative though the staff were exceptionallu pleasant and the free wifi

Room Tip: even number room face omn to the carpark and are much lighter

Nice big car park, nice big tv in room, friendly staff on reception, Our room 14 had a leaking toilet, the duvet was not clean, the carpet was very badly water stained,[we arrived at 10pmand too tired to argue].Fire Hose adjacent to rm14 was missing? perhaps a prelude to re-decoration because the hotel good do with it.

The room seemed clean but there was a strong smell of wet earth. We were only in town for one night, and weren't in the room for much of the time we were there, but the odor was very noticeable whenever we entered.
Having tea and coffee making supplies in the room was a nice addition and the two pubs attached made it easy to get a bite to eat without having to leave the premises. (I'd recommend the private hotel pub over the one open to the public as the latter tends to get quite loud with rowdy locals) The meals were quite nice , too.

Room Tip: Other reviewers didn't mention any damp smell, so maybe we were unlucky that our room had an odo...
