4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 29, 2012

We have stayed here 3 times in all, first two were beautiful the third was bad. We had booked for a room with a wet room for the bathroom, it took the hotel 3 goes at getting it right!
It has put us off staying there again. Food lovely, staff good

the hotel is well situated close to bristish museum , and pleasant to walk the streets to oxfor circus , leicester square and covent garden , soho , picadilly etc..
with very confortable rooms big and very good amenities,
Hotel sound proofing, old building, retains all the charm of yesteryear but with all the best of a modern hotel.
Well-stocked rooms to get after a day of shopping.
Many bus stops near to go anywhere, metro stop practically at the door.
But it's best to have the pleasure to walk, eat at nearby restaurants with charm and night if ye be of them go hungry ue no supermarkets nearby where you can find anything.

I stayed at this hotel with a colleague - we both had a single room. My room an 6th floor was very tiny even for a London property. the bed was so short that my feet stuck out of it - I am 186 cm tall. The bathroom had a bathtub and a miniature wash basin. the carpet was a bit tired and certainly remembered a good part of last century... the bed was very soft and rather uncomfortable. we were happy to get out of this hotel. it looks nice from outside but the rooms are not what one woukd expect. the location is great as there is a metro station 50. M from hotel: Russell Square. we did not use the wi-fi at 15 GBP per 24 hrs nor had breakfast at 19 GBP - these prices are rather shameful. even if the staff were very friendly, the impression from this hotel was rather disappointing and I wikl certainly not return there.

Room Tip: The doble rooms are bigger :-)

Chose this hotel as part of a theatre package with two close friends. The concierge was excellent and reception staff very welcoming. Triple room was great but very business like for three ladies.
Only a tiny table between beds, but other than this no complaints. However, after a fantastic meal out and a great laugh at Abigail`s party I was ready for a good sleep. The bed was comfortable but not enough to help me to put up with the traffic outside going over the metal manholes every
five or so minutes. I know this isn`t the hotels fault and I`m probably being a bit picky but rather than being a relaxed week-end I arrived home really tired. Breakfast in the beautiful restaurant was excellent.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back would be quieter. Maybe double glazing could help but would take away the characte...

when i arrived at this hotel my first thoughts were wow it was opposite russell park and about 15 mins walk to convent garden i got to my room and it was very nice but just a single bed i was on my own, but still expect a double as i am 6'4 and the single bed was very slim and my feet stuck out of the end.I went for a walk around the place where i was and not much going on but pubs were ok and only a stones throw from the british museum. The good part about the place was hotel was less than a minutes walk from russell square tube station where you could travel anywhere in london for example piccadilly circus ,covent garden, knightsbridge .The food at the hotel was very limited and quite expensive for what you got and the beer at the hotel was silly prices £5.50 for pint of peroni where as up the road it was £1.50 cheaper but after all this the hotel was very nice and posh only down side is there was no gym and i was on floor 3 and still heard noise from tourists and traffic all through the night.

Room Tip: not sure about any of the other rooms as like i said i was on floor 3 and still heard a lot of noise
