“Good value and interesting”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 7, 2013

This was my first time eating Eithiopian. The restaurant is just behind Kings Cross Station. We arrived just
after 7 on aFriday evening and it was very quiet, but most tables hade been reserved. When we left he place was very busy.

There are comments on here's about poor service. Our take on this is that the staff are perhaps a little reserved, and that may be their manner. We encountered no unfriendliness or rudeness.

The food tends to be eaten with your fingers, so be prepared. We ordered a selection for two, including chicken, lamb and vegetarian. It was spicy and tasty and comes served on a sort of sour spongy bread (better than its sounds) which you tear off strips and use to pick up the food.

We had two starters, a shared main course ( for 2) and a bottle of wine, all for less than £45, which we thought was good value.

“Best Ethiopian I've had (although not been to Ethiopia!). Fresh & tasty!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 21, 2013 via mobile

I was introduced to Ethiopian food over 10 years ago in New York and its a favourite food of mine. Have had it in several countries since and previously had to wait for trips to Paris to get the good stuff. Absolutely delighted to find this restaurant near Euston & Kings Cross stations!! Popped in after arriving back to London one evening. Food was fresh, very tasty and the (vegetarian) platter I got came with 6 different dishes - loved every one of them. You can eat at either the traditional-type table with stools or at a 'normal' table. Either way, food tastes great and was good value. Service was quick and polite. Atmosphere is more an informal dinner/catch up with friends/quick bite solo sort of place (all Ethiopian restaurants I've been to have been like this). Will definitely be back!

“Good food, good wine and a pleasant evening”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 28, 2013

We booked this restaurant for a 25th birthday celebration because we had been here many years ago and really wanted our guests to try something different. We saw the dreadful reviews of this place after we made our booking and by then it was too late to get another venue. So we went there expecting the worst. To our surprise, the staff were very charming and accommodated us with pleasure. Of course, as many reviewers have said, service took a while but to be perfectly frank I did not expect it to be any different. (If you’re in a hurry, need to catch a train/flight then don’t go here as it takes time to get served and to enjoy the food).

We arrived before our guests and bought four bottles of wine for the table (Merlot £15.00 and Sauvignon Blanc £15.50). I was expecting pungent dregs for that price but the wine was very good. Also, this is perhaps the only restaurant in London where you can get a coke for £1.00.
We ordered four platters for the table and everyone picked a dish. The highlights were the lamb, the chicken and the deep fried tilapia. The chick peas (pureed) were also good. We had starters of hummus, fried aubergine with yoghurt and pita bread (complimentary) which was scrummy.

The total bill for ten people (minus the wine) was £115.00 which in London is a bargain. We ate well, we weren't rushed and the staff were good to us. I think it’s a place for long drawn out evenings when time isn't pressing and there’s plenty of wine and good conversation. I am glad we went because we had a good evening and I will probably return again. Try it out.
P.S: This place is a gluten free haven.
