Classic British food can also be found on the menu, including Potted Shrimps, Char-grilled Steaks and Bangers and Mash, along with European-influenced options such as Pesto Lamb Brochette. “Great as ever”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 2, 2013

We have visited the Crusting Pipe on numerous occasions, in fact it is our son's favourite. We visited again on Saturday 26th. Jan. The service was attentive and friendly but not over powering. The food was very good and so was the atmosphere. Wine is good but a bit expensive. We will certainly visit again.

“A fantastic meal for our large group”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 29, 2013

I recently helped host a conference for European teachers in London. I booked a group of 24 into the Crusting Pipe for one of the evening meals. From the initial enquiry, right up to the time we left we received excellent and attentive service. The restaurant is a fantastic place to visit for a group. It has a great atmosphere and is the perfect location at the very heart of Covent Garden. We booked the two private dining rooms which are situated at the rear of the building. Whist the group was split between the two rooms this did not matter since they are right next to each other and are open at one end (you can see pictures of the rooms on their website gallery).

The staff at the restaurant devised a tailor made set menut with a fixed price suitable for our guests. They made several changes to accommodate specific dietary requirements of our conference delegates and communicated well by phone and email prior to our visit. On the eventing we received excellent service and the food was superb. After the meal the group enjoyed a relaxed drink in the wine bar, soaking up the historic surroundings.

Thank you to all the staff – I would recommend this restaurant for group bookings and smaller parties alike. The food and service are both great and the bill was very reasonable too. I will be back!

“Great location and some good wines”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2013

Crusting Pipe which is located in the middle of the bustling Covent Garden market is a lovely place to visit for some good wine and sometimes music. They have a good collection of wines and it should be so as they are part of Davy's wine merchants. Last visit I had a lovely Pinot Noir and my friend had a Malbec and both of us very pleased with our choices. The waitress was lovely and the service was fantastic.
The best thing is that the seating is spread out and there are alcoves and snug little corners with plush sofas and softly lit lamps. Very lovely. There is also seating in the courtyard where you sometimes have musicians performing for the crowd. Its a lovely place for a quiet evening or more boisterous one on Friday evenings and the weekends.

“Saturday lunch”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 11, 2013

We were in Covent Garden looking for a place to have lunch. We had no reservation but managed to get a table within 10 minutes. Restuarant was very busy & the menu selection was good. Waitress took our drinks & food order quickly. Unfortunately we waited a very long time for our main food & we were only advised after about 30 minutes that it was because the tart on the menu was being made as they had run out. Food, once it arrived, was very good.

I am giving it a low rating as we should have been advised either when ordering the food or very soon afterwards that there would be a delay - a simple courtesy which can sway the view of a restaurant. I would go back again, but I'd check before ordering in case there are delays. Otherwise a nice restaurant in a good location.

“Fabulous, what a treat!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 11, 2013

We stayed two days in London between Christmas and New Year to see Dreamboats & Petticoats at the Wyndam and do some siteseeing. On arrival on our first day, too early to book into our hotel, we visited Covent Garden Market and chose this restaurant for lunch. We were first attracted by the fabulous opera singing taking place at the bottom of the steps from the upper floor and decided to find a table to enoy it some more. We hadn't intended to have a big lunch but the menu was so tempting! So, whilst enjoying various duets and solo perfomances of some of the best know opera we tucked into Pidgeon breast starters and the when the string quartet took over we were serenaded by classic music whilst we enjoyed our roast pork main courses! Superb food and a free concert too, it was a delight. This restaurant will be on our itinerary next time we go up for a show, and we'll be recommending it too
