“A favourite.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 1, 2013 via mobile

Every trip to London I end up here at some point. Excellent choice of beer and ale. Standard Nicholson's menu, which is typical pub fare but this time, excellent service from my waiter and barmaid who were both enthusiastic about their job.

“a wonderful little boozer”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 18, 2013

We would always end our pub tour of the west end in here before popping next door(ish)to the underground station to return home. This is a great little pub with bags of personality and a cracking atmosphere too.Ideally placed for the market square shopping,Leicester square and the tube station this pub really livens up at night time as i use to sit and watch all happen from within including the various artists that perform(some good some not so good!)They have a restaurant upstairs that i have used but many years ago so i cannot comment on that side of things. They also offer a good and decent range of ales/beers too.

“Unfriendly”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed April 17, 2013 via mobile

Stopped off here last Sunday for a quick drink and possibly a bite to eat before traveling home. Got our drinks at the bar asked about food was told dining was upstairs went upstairs took a step through the door to be shouted at across the room "downstairs please". There were a few empty tables so I can only assume they just didn't like the look of us! So we went downstairs out the door and that's the last time ill ever bother with upstairs or downstairs!

“Worth the climb”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 9, 2013

Established in 1873, the tiny White Lion Pub, Covent Garden, is well worth a look for lunch and drinks. It's on three levels, and the  restaurant is worth the trip up the narrow creaking staircase. We had pork belly on a bed of mash with root vegetables and wholegrain mustard - good value at 12 pounds 95. The White Lion is famous for its fish and chips. Line-caught cod is 11 pounds 50, and for an extra 2 pounds you can get a larger serving. Top it off with a good wine from a fine, well-priced selection. The pub is on the corner of James and Flower streets. If you're lucky enough to get a window seat you can look out on the Coven Garden street performers below.

“A great place to eat in Covent Garden”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2013

We have eaten here before and found it just as good this time.
Its a traditional oldy-worldy pub, really comfortable. We sit upstairs and its like being in a Victorian parlour. The food is very British, pies - which are fabulous, and a really varied menu. We stick to the pies as they are so good, with mashed potatoes and veg, plus a pint - who could ask for anything better for lunch.
