Description: For more than 30 years, Satay House restaurant in Londons Paddington has been attracting lovers of Malaysian cuisine from all over the capital and across the globe. Satay House Malaysian restaurant was given a rejuvenating makeover in 2006 by the designers of Wagamama so it now sports cheerful orange feature walls with hibiscus flower stencils, sleek leather upholstery and pools of warm light. Despite the name, the food isnt just about meat on sticks, though Satay Houses satay is likely to be the best in the city. Certainly the restaurant is a home-away-from-home for ex-pat Malaysians and there are regular visits from the Malaysian royal family. Large portions of fiery sambal and traditional rending curries offer the perfect opportunity to eat Hidangan style, or sharing with the rest of your table as in traditional Malay culture. All food served at Satay House is certified Halal and the soft beverages include several intriguing Malay offerings.

“Constistently a top London restaurant.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 28, 2013

I've been going here for years and would definitely say it's one of the best restaurants in London and *the* best Malaysian restaurant I know (including my experiences in Malaysia.) Every dish I've tried here has been excellent and every person I've taken here has also really enjoyed it. Versatile (I often see couples but also business dinners here), affordable, good service, decent ambiance, convenient location to transport links and top food quality.

“great meal at a reasonable price”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 24, 2013

Four of us went to the Satay House on Friday the 14th of June and had a great meal. We have all had Thai food before and as we were staying 2 minutes from the Satay House we decided to give it a go. The food was excellent as was the service and for 35 pounds each we thought it was very reasonable for London.

“Malaysian food for homesick Mary's doctors!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 22, 2013 via mobile

Being a stone's throw away from St Mary's, this is a popular eating joint for homesick Malaysian Mary's doctors , which in itself speaks volumes of the authencity of the food served there! Tiger and Singha's beers available too!. Beware though the kuey teow goreng (fried flat noodles) come standard as being served spicy hot, even for my Malaysian standards!

“Had a GREAT dinner here!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 18, 2013

Me and my wife and three of her former graduate students went for dinner here. WE could not get a reservation online so we just showed up. We were told that if we order quickly they could accommodate us. "No worries," we all said but were puzzled by the request. Turns out they were waiting for a group of 40 executives (turns out all from Malaysia) and the kitchen would be slammed when they arrived.
I quickly ordered laksa and a bottle of Singha beer; no worries there. The rest of the party took about five minutes to decide on several diverse dishes. My wife and her former student went for a half carafe (very generous pour) of white wine which they judged to be excellent.
All the dishes were judged excellent except for one which was deemed only 4 stars by our friend from Singapore. So I entered 4 stars above but it should really be 4 and a half stars.
Bottom line: very authentic and tasty food at reasonable prices, especially for London. The total bill including a 10 pound sterling charge for service was 90 pounds for 5 of us. My wife and I decided that a repeat visit is in order before we leave London for Turkiye this weekend.
