Description: If Archipelago were a film it would definitely be one of the Indiana Jones series. First, the menu features all manner of exotic beasties - locusts, gnu, crocodile and second the decor is an exotic mix of golden buddhas, dwarf palms and giant peacock feathers. The staff will talk you through each dish, but there's also chicken, fish, lamb and extensive vegetarian options. It's a great night out for the more adventurous - or if you happen to be having Ray Meers to stay.

“Great evening out”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 21, 2013

Very interesting food options - been twice - have enjoyed the love bug salad, zebra, crocodile (amazing), bison - all very good. Love the secret password idea. We had vouchers both times, think can be pricey otherwise. Attentive staff, interesting atmosphere /vibe... Definitely try African sunset dessert and the chocolate lovers one

“Extremely disappointing”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 11, 2013

I'm well traveled and pretty adventurous when it comes to food but nothing on the menu really appealed to me. I had the ravioli to start which was forgettable, ravioli shouldn't be fried! The piri piri chicken was actually good, but the chorizo chunks were far too big and hard. I believe from the others the duck was nice but the alpaca was far too salty. Overall average food, but worst of all was the price. £60 per head, for on average less than a bottle of wine per person and less than two courses. Won't return.

“Not only trying something new, but tasted great!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 28, 2013

Great decoration inside this restaurant really sets the mood. Favourite starter was the zebra which tasted great (and was plain so really got to taste the meat). Kangaroo for a main was delicious! although it was highly marinated so couldnt so much as taste the kangaroo, but thoroughly enjoyable. My friend had alpaca which was also delicious. They have put a lot of effort into the whole atmosphere and experience which I highly enjoyed. Every bit of food we ordered looked and tasted great. An experience rather than just a meal. They were a bit slow to take our order, but other than that service was good. You have to book a while in advance as it gets booked up quickly!

“Quirky”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 26, 2013

Just visited this restaurant, after seeing it on the web me and my girlfriend decided to go as we fancied something different. The restaurant is very small and intimate with weird stuff all over the place but it works as they serve all sorts of animals, from zebra to frogs legs! We tried most things but enjoyed the crocodile the most and not so much the love bug salad but it is an experience you should try for your self. I will return to this restaurant as I really enjoyed it.

“Fun and Delicious”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 5, 2013

I came here with my sister and we shared crocodile and zebra for starters, then alpaca and kangaroo for mains. All the foods on offer have a great depth of flavour (although sometimes its can be a little disappointing that you dont get just "plain" meat to taste!). I especially recommend the crocodile starter.
If you like a big meal you should order a few extra sides, as the sides that come with the meal are small in comparison to the ENORMOUS amount of meat you get!
I really loved the atmosphere of Archipelago. The decor is eclectic and fun, and the waiters and friendly and helpful.
Dont forget to have a visit from the Doctor before you leave.
