“Nice place, shame about the website”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 27, 2013

To celebrate the beginning of truffle season, we decided to search the web for a white truffle taster menu. A Google search brought up, among others, a page on Plateau restaurant's website, promising: "To mark the truffle season, our head chef, Allan Pickett, has created a five-course tasting menu using only the very best white truffles. Enjoy it with wines carefully selected by our Head Sommelier to compliment each course....available until 17th December."

We excitedly rang to book. With hindsight, the girl on the end of the phone did seem somewhat vague as to our request for the white truffle taster menu, but went off to enquire with colleagues and returned stating that she thought she knew what we were talking about. Unfortunately, on arrival at our table on the night, that was clearly not the case. There was no white truffle menu. It appears that, somewhere on the restaurant's website, accessible only via Google it turns out, is an 'old' page offering an event from a past year, detailing date and month but unfortunately not stating which year!

It was a classic breakdown in communication. However, the staff on the night could not have been more helpful and did their absolute best to accommodate our expectations by tweaking dishes on their menu to include some truffle elements; the sommelier was fantastic and did a sterling job pairing the resulting dishes with the wines that were available to him. However, ultimately, despite the great food and service, it was not the white truffle extravaganza we had booked for and we were secretly a little disappointed, compounded both by the fact that our final bill reflected the full price of the original event, and that we could have booked exactly what we wanted elsewhere instead. Lesson learned: always double check a Google search via the result's home page!

That said, we will definitely return to the restaurant; false expectations aside, the staff are excellent, as is the food. And the enticing cocktail list definitely requires further investigation!

“Nice restaurant in the Wharf”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 23, 2013 credit card Amex Card Member Review

I was pleasantly surprised at this restaurant. I thought it would be mediocre but it was quite good. The food was well executed, service was nice and attentive but relaxed, and the venue was airy and nice. I loved the atmosphere and table overlooking the park. The food was good – we all ordered seafood appetizers and I was surprised at how fresh and good quality it was. The scallops were tender and large, the shrimps were crisp and succulent. The mains were good sized and well composed. I liked the service – that really made the evening nice. Everyone was helpful and efficient and relaxed. I would suggest this for business or pleasure. The tables are well spaced so you don’t have to listen t the people at the next table!

“Great food and service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 20, 2013

It's a great place to dine in the evenings. We were seated in the Bar and Grill area and it was busy butt he service was still very good. The food was pretty good and nicely presented. We tried the cured salmon which was delightfully tasty. The mains and desserts were pretty good as well. They had a reasonably elaborate menu with plenty of options to choose for all courses of the meal. Would visit again.

“Team Dinner...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 17, 2013

Venue was chosen by one of the group and as a treat for a visiting team member from the US of A. Food was very tasy, lovely atmosphere, attentive staff and views of the canary wharf high rises. I'd recommend it, but ensure the credit card can cope. Whilst it's not expensive, especially with the 3 courses for £25, add a bottle of wine, a fruit juice and a coffee and it soon ticks up a notch.
