It was the 1st time I visited a greasy spoon cafe in London. I heard about the Pellicci's from someone who have lived in London. I went there one morning and found the place crowded with locals. I managed to squeeze into a seat at a table for 4. The clientel mace up of both male and female. They seemed to know one another as well as the staff there. They knew I was a foreigner as I asked about several dishes which were well known to locals. My order came quickly and the portion was large. Slowly the people left for work so the owner, who also worked there, and the staff had time to chat me up. They told me the history of the place. Their signature dish was BUBBLE 'N' SQUEAKS-mashed potatoes cooked with carrot, cabbage and other kinds of vegetable. Traditional machine was still used to make coffee, espresso and coppocino. When I left, the daughter of the owner wrapped up a pudding for me to take away. I seldom experience such hospitality.
