I'm a huge fan of Ottolenghi. I do tend to go at lunch time and often take away.
The food is all superfresh, delicious, and piled high onto platters that are arranged around the counters of the entrance. Similar with cakes on the other counter. The food (at lunch) is probably best described as European with a Mediterranean twist, there's a a selection of substantial salads and some cold meats / fish / quiches, some amazing in-store made breads. And then the cakes, oh the cakes. Veggies and people avoiding gluten / dairy will be well served as there are good selections and the staff very knowledgeable and helpful.
Don't be put off by the crowds - they are there for good reason. It isn't cheap, but well worth it for an occasional treat. Don't miss the corn bread.
