Description: Sleek and chic, Villandry on Great Portland Street combines deli, restaurant and bar, meaning that there is no time of day that is not an appropriate time to go. If you pop in for coffee, you’re bound to be tempted by the smell of delicious fresh deli items or lured by the visual appeal of biccies and chocs. The restaurant meanwhile uses the best of their imported items to create sophisticated European peasant dishes.

“Great Breakfast”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 11, 2012

This restaurant should not be missed. We stopped in while staying in London for the weekend. The cumberland sausage roll was lovely and the eggs florentine (my favourite breakfast dish) was quite possibly the best I've ever had. Two perfectly poached eggs on a fluffy muffin with a perfect hollandaise and the spinach was freshly wilted. Definitely stop in for a lovely breakfast.

“Awful food”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed December 8, 2012

Food was awful and portions very small. I had the worst steak which I couldnt even eat and had to send back. I dont know how any self-respecting chef could let that out of kitchen. Villandry is one of the worst restaurants I have been to.

“Rude unhelpful staff”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed December 3, 2012

Having had several meals at Villandry recently, we arranged a family dinner for 8 people. Although only half the tables were occupied, the staff we surly, offhand and unhelpful. It took ages to get everything from menus, to water, wine (white wine was warm) to food. Some of the food was OK, but my galette bore no resemblance to anything apart from a veggie burger and tasted a bit sludgey. The meal consisting of 2 courses took more than 3 hours and when I eventually asked for the bill, I was told I could have it if "i insisted". Won't be going again - never felt so unwelcome in a restaurant.

“Called on spec and was v good”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 12, 2012

We were staying locally and just wandered along to find a place to eat when we came across this place. It was early evening but it was busy. No problem for them to find a table for two. Its friendly service and a good but not extensive menu. Specialty bread was served while we waited for the mains. Staff are very good and attentive. Lots of professionals eating as well as young couples and friends. A good mix of people. It was lively and buzzing. The food was very good traditional dishes and well prepared and presented. Drinks were plentiful and reasonable value. I would go again if in area but there are loads of other places to try nerarby.

“Good experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 27, 2012 via mobile

We had three people for a business dinner on a Thursday evening. It went very well. Nice environment for conversation. Good food - calamari, chicken, scallops, steak - all were good. Small portions (by US standards) but quite adequate and more normal for Continental style. £50 per person include dessert and a decent wine. Nothing to blow you away but a place I would go back to for a similar purpose.
