Description: It might be one of the hippest venues in one of the hippest parts of the capital but this Clerkenwell restaurant still manages to be relaxed and more concerned with good food than being trendy. The restaurant’s décor with its polished wooden floors, long zinc bar and open view to the kitchen and its charcoal grill and wood-burning oven is functional but welcoming. The Moorish cuisine complete with subtle European influence is every bit as striking as it was when the restaurant opened its doors nearly ten years ago. Tapas served all day at the bar. “Good atmosphere even at lunchtime”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 17, 2013

The atmosphere was such that there was a constant buzz of conversation and laughter which is great when eating out in a casual place such as Moro. Service was good and although food was enjoyable it was fairly average. Quite pricey for what it was however there is not much you can knock about this place. Loads of people obviously love it!!

“continued excellent quality, quirky and busy atmosphere.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 15, 2013

To escape a long rainy afternoon, a short stroll down from angel gets you into the unique ecosystem of small independent cafes, and multicultural restaurants featuring dishes from the entire globe. The More (and more recently morito) have been enjoying an excellent reputation. So we went (again) to enjoy the atmosphere and the food. We had pigeon and mussels as starters, which were relatively small, but very good, and the Mezze as mains to share. Sharing the mezze was a good decision, as it is a rather large, and unfortunately a bit uninspired, stuffing dish. I have seen my neighbour struggling with it and I did not regret to have to deal with only half of it. We had a sparkling and plain white wine which were good. The atmosphere on an afternoon is not as enjoyable as in the evening (no idea why) and the tables are very close, which can be a bit annoying in terms of privacy, depending who is next to you. It is disturbing when your neighbour’s smartphone sits 6 inches from your dish and every text message flashes at you, and at the same time the person has the annoying habit to be completely immersed in her facebook contacts rather than her partner (as it was the case) or at least her food. Anyway, I have had a better experience here before, I think when I will come here again it will be in the evening. Although it may be more expensive than our very acceptable £55 bill that we had.

“An absolute wonderful experience.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 11, 2013

This restaurant was very busy, with a magical atmosphere. The service was fantastic, our waitress was very calm, and very attentive. The food was fantastic, cooked really well, and different.
Well done moro, I cant wait to return.

“Good food, warm service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 9, 2013

Walking around Exmouth market and looking in, this restaurant was by far the busiest, which had to be a good sign. We had no reservation, but that didn't seem to be a problem.
The staff were warm and efficient. The atmosphere inside is warm and welcoming.
The menu is quite limited, but the choices on offer are quite varied. Service was pleasantly speedy, and the dishes we ordered were delicious!
I would certainly eat here again. It would be good for an intimate meal, or a meal with a friend / colleague. Didn't seem like a great location for groups though.

“Exuberant food but not 'fine' food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 7, 2013

Moro is great fun - lively, noisy, invigorating - and the food is in the same vein. It is tasty, original and challenging but it stops short of being fine dining. It is a bit like a popular neighbourhood restaurant in Southern Spain transported intact to London but now frequented by London's city- slickers. They are as charming as their Mediterranean compatriots, and the food is at least as good, but it is not 'out of this world' -as has been claimed; it is just unusual, though delightful, to find such a wonderful homely restaurant in Central London. All of which may sound a little churlish. It is not meant to be - it's great, but the food might have been cooked by your wonderful Spanish granny (had you had one) rather than by E-Bulli (I think that's right).
