Description: It might be one of the hippest venues in one of the hippest parts of the capital but this Clerkenwell restaurant still manages to be relaxed and more concerned with good food than being trendy. The restaurant’s décor with its polished wooden floors, long zinc bar and open view to the kitchen and its charcoal grill and wood-burning oven is functional but welcoming. The Moorish cuisine complete with subtle European influence is every bit as striking as it was when the restaurant opened its doors nearly ten years ago. Tapas served all day at the bar. “excellent interesting food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 28, 2012

My husband and I recently moved to London from New York, and have been a little disappointed with the restaurants. The good ones are very expensive. This is probably the best value for the money that we have tried so far. The food was interesting and very well made. I had whole fish was perfectly cooked and lightly coated with a delicious sauce. They also have a good wine selection and can make suggestions for pairings

Service was knowledgeable and responsive, however, on a Friday night the place was absolutely mobbed and so a bit slow. It was also a little too noisy for a nice romantic dinner.

I'm looking forward to going back on a quieter night and trying tapas at the bar.

“Tapas time in Exmouth Market”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2012

I went here on my birthday for lunch and I enjoyed everything I ate. The wines/sherry were also very good, complimenting the food well (recommended on the menu), although they were all quite pricey. The atmosphere sitting at the bar was relaxing and intimate despite the busy room and volume - probably mostly due to the low lighting even at three in the afternoon. Tapas is a good way of enjoying lots of flavours, but you will run up a bigger bill here than in your average spanish joint!
