We went on a Saturday lunchtime and the restuarant (which is quite small) was nearly full.
There is an extraordinarily 'cheap' set menu with good choices of fish as was expected but nice non-fishy dishes as well. There is an 'a-la-carte' which is far from overpriced and a good value tasting menu for those with the stamina.
There is an extensive wine list with several bottles in the hundreds of pounds range but most in £60 and up range. As It was lunchtime we had a glass each of a perfectly acceptable Sauvignon Blanc at a fair price.
We were presented with delicious fish balls and cucumber sauce as an 'amouse bouche' on arrival and we enjoyed these with a cocktail and a good dry sherry.
I had cured duck with chicory for a starter and red gurnard with a red pepper and cuttlefish ink sauce which was spectacular. My friend had crispy oysters followed by lobster risotto. Both of these were from the 'a-la-carte' starters menu.
In all, the service was impeccable without being intrusive and the cooking was restrained but absolutely faultless.
This restuarant gets a strong recommendation for the food and service with the extra benefit of being incredibly low priced for the quality and in this location.
There is also a bar snack menu and it would be possible to have a glass of wine and a snack alone if you were in a hurry.
