Description: Outlaw's Seafood & Grill at The Capital will focus on simply prepared, ecologically sound seafood and seasonal cuts. Expect Cornish crab on toast, grilled lemon sole with potted brown shrimp butter, roast brill on-the-bone, whole Port Isaac lobster and char grilled venison chop. Nathan Outlaw holds 2 Michelin stars at his eponymous restaurant in Rock Cornwall and whilst he will remain primarily based in Cornwall he will spend time at The Capital every week liaising with head chef Pete Biggs who he has worked with over the past 10 years. Pete, before moving to Cornwall, worked at The Vineyard at Stockcross and in London The Square and Hibiscus. A fun way to share a meal is by ordering (in advance) one of the Feast menus which offer a selection of dishes 'family' style including a whole Monkfish tail or lobster and steak platter. These can be taken in one of the 2 private rooms.

“An excellent evening!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 13, 2013

This is an excellent fine-food restaurant. The selection, presentation and informed service was up to every expectation. And, so much for any reviews which chuckle about the ambience. Our party of three had a memorable time enjoying every aspect of the evening - including sharing life's lessons with an animated 81 year-old, his wife and our 19 year-old server, who is professional beyond her years. Their combined 100 years of insight was the perfect setting for a fabulous evening of the freshest of food, drink and delightful camaraderie.

“Accomplished seafood cooking and delightful service.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 3, 2013

My wife and I had the fixed price lunch menu at £20 for 2 courses and it was seafood cooking of the highest order, and fantastic value for this part of London. The food was exceptional, very fresh flavours and beautifully presented and with delightful and knowlegable service from the waitress and sommelier. The wine list is pricey and could do with a few under £30, especially at lunchtime, but the standard of the wines is very high and we enjoyed a glass each of an excellent Gruner Veltliner and superb bottle of Chateau Leoube Rose. I had the rhubarb posset with ginger ice cream to finish and for £5 is great value.
The dining room lacks atmosphere but this is a minor quibble in an otherwise very enjoyable experience.

“Exceptional Seafood Delights”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 2, 2013

Had high expectations for this restaurant and it did not disappoint. The service was first class, relaxed, intimate atmosphere yet the creamof the crop in terms of Sommeliers and servers. We had the tasting menu at an incredible value £70 each plus matched wine at £60. Really pleased to see that the scallop dish came with a beautiful, crisp English wine and the other choices were excellent as well, including the Turbot with a delicious Burgundy Pinot Noir. As someone who always waits for the fish courses, this was brilliant as they just kept on coming. The food was really diverse with appetisers of tiny fried fishcakes, raw scallops, fried oysters, crab, Turbot- a real selection. We added the cheese for an incredible value £6 and were pleased it was quite small yet perfectly selected. My husband had a tawny port and I had a nice red wine. The puddings were great with the mango and pineapple a refreshing experience and the final chocolate tart small and not too sickly with the lime added. Dessert wines delicious, especially the sparking Italian one.

Overall can't wait to return, service and food amazing. We stayed at the Langham which was £13 taxi ride home. Right opposite Harrods and they looked after our bags so you could easily shop before dinner or lunch.

“Stick to lunchtime!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2013

I was pleased to try Outlaws, and had a very good business lunch with colleagues, chosen from the set menu which in itself was good value but limited in choices.

If you deviate from the set menu however your looking at quite an uplift in cost with main course just shy of the £30 mark which I think is getting excessive, and I'm not sure the cooking is inventive or intricate enough to warrant such pricing. This is after all about the quality of the ingredients - particularly FIsh.

Wine list too is high end with little under £40. There were some interesting wines on the sommeliers choice page at around £50 of which we had two and enjoyed a lot, but its a shame not to have the option of spending less if you wanted.

Service was good - constant without being over bearing.

I'm not a fan of the dining room though - it lacks soul, and given that it is quite small felt a bit like a hotel breakfast room with some nice pictures.
