“Great view, great service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 2, 2014

Made reservations only a fiew days before for a saturday evening. A table outside, with the tower bridge in the background, wasn't yet available but we could have a drink at the bar and they updated us every ten minutes. We eventually decides to have dinner inside and desert outside. Our waiter, Gianluca, was very friendly and helpfull. Also the somelier was very kind to have us taste some British wines before we chose. The food was very good, but don't expect anything extravagant. Deserts were even better; we recommend the toffee pudding.

“Great view, Great city, Great food.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 1, 2014

We reserved a table for 10 for Sunday lunch, as my cousin visited from Scotland with her boyfriend, who birthday it was. This was a surprise meal for him. The place is charming, lovely wood decor. Nice atmosphere. We had a table for 12.30pm We had a drink at the bar, then we were asked if we wanted to go through. We was greeted by a waiter who showed us the table and asked if we would like any more drinks, which we did. They came up quickly considering how many of us there was. We chatted for a while and they asked if were ready, but we weren't as we were busy chatting!! They left us to it and when we were ready eventually, they came over, knowing we were ready this time, so they were patience with us. We all had starters, which there was a goods selection. I skipped the started and had their lovely rosemary bread instead, which is so tasty. Everybody complimented the started and I didn't see any leftovers. They all looked lovely presented and the right portions size for a starter. It was mice break from from the starters to the main. I had the Beef roast dinner, it was very tasty and tender. This came with Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes and side dish of vegetable. The flavours all complemented each other. Some of the other family members had lamb and steak, My nephew who had the steak said it was the best he had and chips were nice. My niece had the hamburger, but she could;t eat it all, as she don;t eat a lot, but me and my brother tasted the burger and were we both impressed and finished it off for her and before she changed her mind!! That was a great burger. We loved our roast dinners, again all plates were empty. We didn't have dessert but we did have a surprise cake for my cousin boyfriend which the chef made. My cousin told them what she wasted and they made it exactly to what she wanted. They came over with the cake and sang happy birthday, which we didn't expect, but it was lovely gesture and made all our day special. It was a very nice touch. The cake was yum yum yum. So light and fresh. We all glad we had the cake as the dessert, as it was so tasty. The view is fab, it great looking at our history of the Tower bridge. We weren't rushed at all, the coffees were nice and it was relaxing. Great place for couple, friends and family. We all loved this place and have great memories here. We have been here before about 5 years ago and it just as good. I am looking forward to going again...!

“A little disappointing”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 1, 2014

I have been here many times over the years and rarely have anything but an excellent meal. This Friday lunch however was not great. Service at the table was a bit pushy and we were interupted too many times for our order whilst talking business. The veal and ham pie with piccalilli was very nice but an odd starter. Steak and kidney pudding on a late spring early summer menu seemed strange but the other limited choices did not appeal. filling was fine but suet crust slightly understeamed. Black bread and butter pudding was decent but a little small. Overall not the best lunch Ive had here by a long way.

Dear Piemaster1961,

Thank you for posting your comments online, I am sorry to hear that this experience wasn't as good as your usual visits.

We have changed our menu recently and take the Veal pie of and replaced it with a rabbit terrine, the steak and kidney pudding has been on our menu since day one e opened in 1994 and continues to be a best seller throughout the year.

I have passed your feedback onto the chef and will continue to monitor this dish.

We hope you will return to us very soon and continue to enjoy you visits with us.

Kind regards

“Fabulous food, wine, service and views.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 31, 2014 via mobile

Had a lunch fabulous lunch this week, the set menu was first class, very good value and flavoursome. Extensive wine list that did not disappoint and had wines at all price ranges. The Montepulciano D'Abruzzo was particularly good. In addition the views of the river Thames from our table were fabulous, our lunch guests could see the cruise yacht they were due to board next day, coming in past Tower Bridge. Another great experience from this restaurant.
