PerfecT service from the lovely bar staff this evening. Recommended a cocktail that I loved. Had a nice chat with both of them their names were dermot & Monicka. Great representatives for the place.

“Who said English food is bland?”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 24, 2013

Great service, wines and mains. Variety of salads. Steaks are excellent but always request how you would like them done- otherwise blood rare will be served (learned long ago).

Second time around that I went to Browns. It clearly shows that they have new management and new staff. Service on a very high level and food excellent. Recommend a visit it is worth it!

“Horrendous New Year's Eve”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed January 22, 2013

We booked a table here for New Year's Eve as part of their James Bond themed evening. It was an absolute disaster from start to finish. Anyone considering going to this branch of Browns for Valentines Day (I see they are doing a similar type of themed evening/dinner) should avoid at all costs!

We booked our table for New Year's eve for 6 people in early December and paid the full amount up front for the meal (£39.95 per head - seemed reasonable). We were told that as we were 1 of the first to book, we could choose our table so we picked what looked like a really nice booth near the main bar. We were all looking forward to the evening and getting dressed up as there were to be prizes (bottles of champagne) for best dressed bond, bond girls and villains. There was supposed to be a DJ too so we thought it sounded like a really fun evening.

When we arrived we were shown to the booth we had chosen which, it turned out, only sat 5 people so we had to be moved to a table further away in the restaurant, which was nowhere near as nice and was next to a very rowdy large table of 20. The restaurant was incredibly short staffed and ordering drinks took ages and service was incredibly slow. We arrived at 8pm and it took from then until midnight for us to receive our 3 courses as the gap between courses was so long. The food was not awful but average at best and not the same as advertised on the set menu we had signed up for.

We ordered bottles of prosecco so we would all have something to drink at midnight. Although the service had been incredibly slow, we thought that ordering the wine more than 40 minutes before midnight would allow plenty of time for it to come to the table before then. Of course, it never materialised, despite multiple times asking so we all ended saying cheers to the New Year with empty glasses. There was no DJ or prizes for the costumes and there hadn't even been any effort to make the place look as if it was a themed New Year's event of any sort.

When we finally got the bill - this took AGES to arrive - it was of course, wrong and they had tried to charge us for the meal even though we had already paid in advance. As a courtesy they took off 20% from the bill but as far as everyone was concerned, it was a truly appallingly managed event and was a huge disappointment for all of us when we had been looking forward to a fun and relaxing evening.

The whole evening was so poorly planned and I can only imagine that it will be the same for Valentine's Day, so save yourselves the trouble and go elsewhere!

“SUNDAY LUNCH WITH FRIENDS”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 19, 2013

Prior to Christmas I had Lunch with a party of friends some of who travelled from Ireland in Browns in Islington. I had booked a table and requested a table that could accommodate a wheelchair. Om arrival everything was in place for us.
The food was excellent and also the service. Wine was also very good. The place had a really nice atmosphere very lively.
The only thing I wouyld say was that we sat close to the door, (this was properly due to the wheelchair access) it was a bit chilly with people arriving and leaving the restaurant. Otherwise it was a most enjoyable Sunday Afternoon with lovely friends and great value for money.
