Discovered the restaurant chain during our visit to Taste of London at Regents Park. Loved the story attached to it so we decided to book for dinner with guests from overseas.
The setting is wonderful. The restaurant is chic, very French and welcoming. Set in a small square directly off Hatton Garden it is an enchanting environment that is quite romantic.
It stops there. It is yet another example of style of substance. The menu reads fantastically and offers the safe and wonderful French classics. However, taste has been overlooked.
I can't even remember the amuse bouche - not a good sign - but I do remember commenting that it was nothing that had been cooked. Hardly an appetising way of introducing the kitchen or inspiring my stomach juices.
I tried a starter of ballotine of confit duck and chicken with apricot jam. Simply awful. My Halibut was edible, but my husbands Venison was so overcooked it was grey. (He chose not to send it back as we were with guests).
Service was good, staff were wonderful but the kitchen let this down badly.
