“Disappointed”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 30, 2014

Discovered the restaurant chain during our visit to Taste of London at Regents Park. Loved the story attached to it so we decided to book for dinner with guests from overseas.
The setting is wonderful. The restaurant is chic, very French and welcoming. Set in a small square directly off Hatton Garden it is an enchanting environment that is quite romantic.
It stops there. It is yet another example of style of substance. The menu reads fantastically and offers the safe and wonderful French classics. However, taste has been overlooked.
I can't even remember the amuse bouche - not a good sign - but I do remember commenting that it was nothing that had been cooked. Hardly an appetising way of introducing the kitchen or inspiring my stomach juices.
I tried a starter of ballotine of confit duck and chicken with apricot jam. Simply awful. My Halibut was edible, but my husbands Venison was so overcooked it was grey. (He chose not to send it back as we were with guests).

Service was good, staff were wonderful but the kitchen let this down badly.

I would like to thank you for your comments about our Restaurant and our Bistro.
Primarily I would like to say that I regret that on this occasion our Restaurant did not live up to your expectations specially considering that you have had such a good impression at our stand in Taste Of London 2014. We certainly would like to have the occasion to be able to prove that your impression at the TOL was correct and that our Restaurant menu is well worth on every level. Our Head Chef Julian will definitely investigate this matter further.
On a positive note, we certainly are pleased that you gave us a second chance and that our Bistro delivered The Bleeding Heart standards.
We hope you will let our Restaurant show its true value and let us demonstrate the full gastronomic power of our Restaurant cuisine.
Hoping we will have the pleasure of seeing you at the Bleeding Heart in the near future and please do let me know the next time you are coming, so I can organise something special on your next visit.
With best wishes,

Giuseppe F. Dewilde

“A perfect celebration”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 27, 2014

I attended with my fiancée of 1 day to celebrate our engagement the night before. It was a perfect setting. Quiet, stylish, classy and the staff were great. The restaurant was set out perfectly. Not too crammed in and the décor, lighting and atmosphere was fantastic. That's without even looking at the menu. The food on offer was great. A good variety for anyone's taste buds, even the fussier eaters (my other half!) They have an extensive wine list which in you are not a big wino, may confuse you, however the waiters are knowledgeable with which wine compliments which dish.

The food arrived promptly and tasted as nice if not nicer than it sounded. Portion sizes were great and bigger than you might imagine for a restaurant of this type. It was certainly not one of these that arrived with 75% of the plate empty with a bit of decoration. We didn't go hungry and portion size is a biggy for me when I'm eating out! 3 courses and a bottle of wine was around £120. It may seem a bit expensive for 2, but remember you are in The 'City' of London and this is more than your average restaurant. If you want somewhere a little bit different or somewhere for a special occasion or celebration I would definitely recommend The Bleeding Heart Restaurant.

P.S. Make sure you indulge and have a dessert!

“Beautiful Gastronomique Restaurant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 22, 2014

The menu is fabulous. Perfectly prepared and presented. The service friendly and attentive. I went here for a Christmas dinner, but is perfect also for a romantic night out. The cheeses are superb.
It was a very cold night and I didn't like having to surrender my coat at the outside cloakroom in the yard!

“Mediocre over-priced food in a nice setting”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed June 19, 2014 via mobile

The setting is lovely but sadly the food fails to deliver and is very over-priced. The food was bland and basic in comparison to the menu description and costs. Service was poor-at one point the waiter pulled my napkin from under my arm (I was leaning on it) as he was tidying the table without saying anything! Far better restaurants can be found.

“A Hidden Treasure”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 9, 2014

A truly charming restaurant, tucked off a side street from Hatton Garden. 1st class food and service and a very well stocked wine cellar, complemented by a dedicated wine waiter who is only too happy to assist with ones selection. My second visit here with friends but equally suitable for couples or business.
