“Excellent Experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 23, 2013

Had a fantastic couple of nights based here during Half Term. Great location being so close to Trafalgar Square to use as a convenient base to explore the sights of London. Shared a Queen room with my 9-year old daughter and it was plenty big enough for both of us. Friendly and helpful staff who were welcoming and made us feel right at home. Had a memorable stay and would definitely stay there again given the opportunity!

Room Tip: Suggest to try the new extension part of the hotel which is much warmer and further away from the bu...

As a regular at the Grand Hotel (I stay there for both business and pleasure) I have to be honest and say that I can't fault it!

Every room I have stayed in has been clean, comfortable and presentable, and i’ve been lucky enough to stay in rooms which great views such as Nelson's column etc, plus, for London the rooms are spacious!

On each floor there is filtered water, ice and bottles available for guests.

The employees at check-in are extremely helpful and courteous.
During your stay you can request an ipad (free of charge to use) for the duration of your stay which is perfect if you haven’t brought your laptop or want to do some internet surfing on the free wifi!

The location is ideal as it's so central to everything!

As the hotel is just off Trafalgar Square, the National Portrait Gallery and The Strand are just a stone throw away and within walking distance (10 to 15 mins max) is Covent Garden, Leicester Square (Soho and China Town), The London Eye, Buckingham Palace and so on... the list is endless!

Closest tube stations Embankment (district and circle lines) and Charing Cross (Bakerloo and Northern Lines) both underground stations are literally a 2 to 3 minute walk from the hotel.

Overall I would recommend the Grand Hotel, it's good value, amazing location and has great staff.

Hope this helps!

Very business friendly. The whole staff was very accommodating. Listen to these amenities: Free bottles of water, free laundry machines with free detergent (only 1 washer and 1 dryer but if you stay on the weekend it is not busy), free business center with computers and printer, free England plug adapters, and free wifi internet! The hotel is located between 2 underground stations and walking distance from many attractions like the London eye and the Parliament and the National Gallery. Has room service. The price is very reasonable for the quality of the hotel and the location.

We have just returned from a 3-night stay at this hotel where we had booked two rooms. On the positive side, it's fantastically close to so many great sights, the staff were friendly and helpful and everything was very clean. On the negative side, one room was extremely warm even though we turned the temperature right down. We ended up switching off the AC and opening the window. In the other room, there was the opposite problem - it was extremely cold. We asked the reception staff to call someone to fix it, which they did, but it remained cold. There are no duvets on the beds, only a sheet and a quilted covering, which didn't provide much warmth. Also, both rooms were non-smoking, but there was a definite smell of smoke at night - probably from the room next door - but of course the hotel can't be blamed for that.
This hotel wasn't cheap, so we were expecting the rooms to have a higher standard. It doesn't help that the colour scheme used is dark brown.
We didn't eat breakfast at the hotel, but chose to try different places. We can highly recommend the National Café at the National Gallery for lovely breakfasts - it's just a short walk away. We also had breakfast at the British Museum, which was also great.
To sum up then, it was OK, but we would choose to stay somewhere else when visiting London again.

Actually I was not aware of this hotel being so convenient although I have spent 4 times journey to London for both vacation and business.

This hotel is very (20mt) close to Trafalgar Square which makes it convenient place for both leasure trips as well business trips. The Charing Cross Metro Station is just a few steps away and there are too many bus stops around Trafalgar Square so it is very easy to get out of the hotel and go somewhere immediately.

I strongly recommend this hotel not only for the place but the rooms are also big and comfortable compared to many small room hotels near Paddington. The rate may seem a little bit high compared to Paddington hotels but the comfort and easines you get is worth it. I must also mention that it is the cehapest alternative at the moment around that region and Westminster. If you are an early bird I am sure you will benefit from low price stay at this hotel.

This was an overnight stay rather than a lengthy camp but nonetheless a very pleasant experience. We upgraded to a suite which whilst not the biggest I've stayed in was roomy enough and well equipped. Really good central location overlooking (just) Nelsons column and 2 mins from charing cross tube. First impression of facade is good but slightly let down on entry with a pokey looking reception area. Checking in staff were friendly and multilingual. We didn't eat in, preferring to sample the plentiful local (and frankly cheaper) eating out spots. Bar area very nicely appointed with fair priced drinks. Only gripe was the early checkout (noon) unless you splashed more cash. Overall pretty good and would certainly go back especially at the heavily discounted online price of around £100 for a suite.

We had 4 enjoying nights in a spacious room with fab sofabed for our 14 yo son, clean bathroom, location's fab, walking distance to train station, trafalgar sq, national gallery & shopping area eg. Covent Garden.. Staff are friendly & helpful.. And the most important thing is FOOD! No worries! They have Deliverance Room Service..we tried the indian food & it's fantastic! So tasty & good price..

Would be perfect if they up-dating their furniture with more brighter furniture so it will be more fun to stay! ;)
