“Within budget and easily accessible for travel ....”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 27, 2012

if what you ae looking for is a place to sleep at night, morning toast to your bedside and a plce thqat is easily accessible to transport......... even walkable to major attractions.... its worth the money...... recommended if budget is priority.... not for a luxury stay ..but we were happy with the location and service coz we used it as a place where we could rest at the end of two exploring days...

I booked a single room for one nights accommodation - I arrived late at night, and common with other reviews the owner claimed 'the machine was broken' so insisted on cash payment, details of which were scribbled on a bit of paper he kept.
Room was shabby - no lampshade, a window pane held together with parcel tape & tatty furniture which looked like it was fit only for the tip. Shower attachment for shower head broken & missing, & the curtain was old and stained. Carpet was stained & torn. No landing/hall lighting so after coming back later I had to negotiate a narrow windy staircase in the dark. Also very noisy.

This place really is the pits & its only saving grace is its location.

This hotel was fabulous for its perfect location, friendly staff and homely atmosphere. Not only was the room a fantastic price, the landlady was eager to ensure comfort and satisfaction, giving me and my partner an extended check-out time and breakfast in bed. We felt welcomed, relaxed and safe in this quirky, characterful establishment. For one night in central London, you couldn't get any better value for your money!

The staff was very kind, with breakfast on time in the room and low price, but I could not pay by credit card, so I had to withdraw some money. In general, it was really good for the money that I paid and the location.

As a last minute resort to our missed flight departing UK, it wasn't necessarilly that bad, however when you expect a nice comfy bed to comfort you after a long stressful day and a hot shower to make that sleep easy, it wasn't what we got. After sorting out a cash payment as there was no card payment option (even though we thought we paid online - check your small print! it only reserves!) got shown to our room to discover furniture that was falling apart needing replacement, ie, all the doors to wardrobe, chest of draws under sink and chair with screws missing that we couldn't use, to then discover when turing on the shower, no hot water and blocked drains that overflowed after a few moments of trying, a broken flush to toilet. Tried calling the proprietor to ask if the boiler was on to be hung up on twice, to then have to get dressed and walk to a house across the road and knock on his front door to find out why there were problems or if he knew that the boiler wasn't working. He then gave me a key to another room across the hall telling us we could use that, only to find yet again, no hot water and no working light to the shower room? Again, got dressed to walk over and ask him to look at the boiler, gave up on hot water to try & rest. Thank goodness they came in the morning with a fresh breakfast of tea for two, toast & a boiled egg each and word of a fixed boiler! We were fortunate the room across the hall was free for us to use the shower again with our plumbing being blocked & inoperable. Definite maintenance needed to the property, but glad to see even thought they were just 'keeping up appearances' they still offered helpful service after a few visits to their home across the road. Shame they didn't just change the light bulb and offer us the room across the hallway instead as we ended up using 2 rooms anyway, probably why they didn't offer us any money back. As a Manager in the hospitality industry I can understand they need to make the money off both rooms, again just a shame they didn't think it through well enough for themselves to move us across & make the small amendments & save themselves an extra cleaning job & labour costs.
