“Absolutely packed with Egyptian artifacts”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 24, 2013

This museum contains Mr. Petrie's collection of Egyptian artifacts that he collected through years of excavations. There is everything from tools to toys, packed into cases, with additional items available to look at in drawers underneath. Be sure to check the hours when it is open because they are a little unusual. It is in a university building, but easy to get to if you follow the signs. This collection is different from the big spectacular items you find at the British Museum. We went to both and enjoyed both.

“A must for any Egyptophile”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 1, 2013

A short walk from the British Museum, this is the place to go for a more in depth look at Ancient Egypt. Somewhat hidden away, but well worth the effort. Great staff, amazing exhibit.
No crowds, so you feel no pressure to keep moving before you are done with each part of the museum. Our visit lasted just short of an hour, but depending on your level of interest you can spend much longer before you are finished.

“Small museum for Egyptian Archeology”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 24, 2013

Our daughter wanted to see some mummy's. You are better of to go to the British Museum for that

The Petrie luseum is a very small museum where the artefacts are displayed in the od fascioned way. Nice small museumwith very friendly staff.

“Day out in London”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 12, 2013

This is an amazing place with plenty of Egyptian artifacts available to see. The children loved opening all the drawers wondering what they would find. Very friendly staff.

“Brilliant place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 22, 2013

A great challenge to anyone is finding the place as it is so well hidden and the signposting is poor. Having said that once you arrive the museum is in such contrast to the nearby British Museum with its huge galleries and its charm lies in the somewhat old fashioned displays. The staff are very welcoming and genuinely pleased to see visitors and provide a torch as the lighting is not good. In the spirit of constructive criticism I would like to see a better explanation of precisely how the ancient Egyptians quarried stone and worked it. There is an explanation but rather superficial. However it is always easy to criticise and find fault. I really loved this museum.
