“Fab hotel, short walk from tube, great value for money”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 27, 2010

We stayed at this hotel after getting a great deal on the sale -£108 for two rooms in this standard of four star was great value. The staff on reception were very helpful and we arrived early expecting to leave our luggage in a hold room until later in the day but our rooms were available. We were unpacking at 10am in our urban chic rooms which we all loved, stayed on a week night and had a very restful nights sleep after a trip to the theatre.

The decor is very modern with a great urban/lodge feel. The christmas decorations were really tasteful and it felt really festive. When we came back to the hotel in the evening the bar was teeming and the area seemed to have a great nightlife with funky bars.

A few doors down is a great friendly narrow cafe which does great sandwiches and breakfast inc tea/coffee for £3.50!! A bargain and great staff who even remembered how we took our coffee!

I would definitely stay here again and hope to bag one of the pound rooms next time!

This is a great Hotel in a great location. It is easy walking distance from Liverpool Street Station and the tube. This hotel offer one pound rooms regularly if you sign up for them. We paid only £1.00 and that is with a light breakfast. The staff are very friendly and helpful and there is free internet - with i mac's provided in reception. The rooms are very modern and have great bathrooms. I have been lucky to stay there twice now on this deal and hope to repeat the experience.

Stayed at the Hoxton for 3 nights (Sat, Sun & Mon) & got a good deal on the internet.
Reception was good with a quick check-in.
Our room was 119 (overlooking Willow St) & seemed fine, or so we thought – (see below). Clean, trendy, refreshments, big towels etc.
The hotel is a real trend spot & the bar area was buzzing with people.
On coming back to the hotel late on the Saturday night the bar was jam-packed with people as they had a "DJ" on with lots of loud music.
It was a struggle to get a drink but we did eventually & perched on the end of a table with other guests. Compared to the other nights in the bar, I would say that this is a bit much as you can normally get a drink & a table to yourself but the Saturday night had a "pick up joint" vibe to it which was not for me.
The hotel is very trendy & you get the bag of Pret-a-Manger yogurt, orange juice & banana included in the room rate every morning. This was just fine for us so we didn't try the breakfast in the grill restaurant although it did look tempting & the prices were excellent.
As mentioned earlier on our arrival we were booked into room 119, thinking it was on a quiet back street in Hoxton, how wrong we were, the room is situated right above the service door & from 5.00am you get (in this order): dustbin wagon, laundry wagon, recycle wagon & then another dustbin lorry. Forget having any sleep from 5.00am as it's a nightmare! The hotel itself is very quiet, no real slamming of doors etc but the double glazing leaves much to be desired & after 2 nights of this we had had enough! I requested a room change at reception and we were immediately moved
to a room on the 6th floor overlooking the courtyard. The room was slightly smaller but had everything that the previous room had (Gherkin mural on the wall this time, instead of St Pauls!!). This was a much quieter room but you did have the constant buzz of the air conditioning units situated on the roof going all night long but you can shut this kind of noise out of your head unlike the slamming of lorry doors/engines firing up etc.
Would recommend the Hoxton & would like to stay again but would deffo ask for a courtyard room.
Staff were efficient & helpful & there was no fuss in getting our room changed.
Free newspapers in reception & free use of the 4 computers in the reception area.

Dear Louie1401

Many thanks for your comments. I appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback on tripadvisor.

I acknowledge your comments about deliveries and collections at the rear of the hotel. We are constantly battling with these people to recognise that we are a hotel that sells sleep!

Earlier this year we installed secondary glazing at the front of the hotel which has made a huge difference and we plan to do the same for all bedrooms on Willow Street in the early part of 2011 and I am confident this will cut out all the noise that you mentioned.

I do hope we have a chance to welcome you back in the future.

Kind regards.

David Taylor

I paid one pound sterling to stay at this hotel and it was a bargain. This also included a light breakfast. The rooms are very clean and comfortable and I love the shower. The staff on reception are very polite and helpful. The i mac computers in reception are free of charge to use and they have a great book library. This is the second time I have had this one pound deal, but would stay there at the normal price anyway. The train and tube station are within easy walking district and the wetherspoons pub at the station has a great ceiling! The reception area of the hotel is great with its big open fires, especially this time of the year! An excellent hotel for any type of visitor.

I stayed for a week at the Hoxton, and I loved it. Old Street tube station allows you to travel anywhere in London if the underground is working. I love this part of London--Brick Lane, the street art, the shopping, the food. The Hoxton little breakfast is just the thing to start the day--very healthy. I found the grill food sort of boring, but maybe that's just my take on food in the UK. The lobby is full of people--the Hoxton is obviously a place to meet or relax. The front desk is top notch, especially Dion who helped me plan and got me where I wanted to go.

I stayed at the Hoxton for one night for business and was extremely impressed - raving to a friend in the elevator, we both agreed I sounded like an advertisement! I arrived late on a Friday evening to the busy bar and restaurant downstairs filled with trendy young Londoners, yet it was very quiet in the room. Everything was brand-new, clean, and stylish, yet cozy and personal at the same time. The staff were friendly and helpful and the food at the restaurant was also very good. I will definitely stay here again on my next trip to London, for business or pleasure!

We stayed at the Hoxton during our Son's wedding in London. As it was a special occassion we wanted to host a dinner in the Hoxton Grill the night before. This was all arranged by the lovely and highly effecient Yasmin -- all we had to do was turn up and enjoy the excellent food, wine and attention. The staff truly make the Hoxton what it is - a thoroughly good value, customer focussed venue. It is one of the best places to stay in my home town!
