London is such an expensive city to travel. It has been very hard to find a reasonable rate to stay in. Hoxton Hotel sometimes offers good price and i got that this time.

There are many positives things about this hotel :
- Staffs are friendly and really pay attention on customer requests. Very quick check-in process.
-Near Old Street tube station which is only 3 stops from Embankment stations and many more tourists places
- Up-to-market decoration, nice, trendy hotel. I am sure it is suitable for couples
- our room was very clean. Polite, friendly and professional room service. It has very comfortable bed as well

However, i have couple things which are not a big issues but worth to notice :
- There is no bath! We only can use shower, clean but small bathroom.
- The size of the room is quite standard, not so big.

That is it. Everything else has been excellent.

We stayed in the Hoxton Hotel in late July as a stopover before a flight. The hotel is somewhat pretentious in design, staff and "personality" and this sentiment is expressed by the receptionists who acted rather coldly towards my party. However, the cleaning staff were much more friendly and we had some good conversation.

The room that we stayed in was basic in a no-frills way, but pleasant. It had the appearance of not being finished; this is part of the "urban lodge" style I assume and I found it quite attractive. The view was terrible, looking over some industrial air conditioning vents and fans towards a white wall. The furnishings were modern, albeit slightly distressed, and the bathroom was very well appointed. On arrival we were lacking the free water and milk, but this was plenished upon request. The free internet access was certainly not "high-speed".

We ordered room service. This was good insofar as it arrived quickly, but my pasta dish was tepid and my friend's burger almost cold. The tomatoes and lettuce looked "sad" and wilted but the relish was surprisingly tasty. We left our cleared plated and tray outside and unfortunately they had still not been collected by the time we left several hours later.

Going to sleep was a nightmare. We had an early flight to catch the next morning and thus retired to bed at around 2030 but were unable to sleep for the riotous sound ascending from the bar area below. The windows were pathetic at stopping the noise and we therefore missed an entire night's sleep. We asked to be moved to a room on a higher floor but our request was not met, I daresay it wasn't even noted by the inattentive member of staff who I approached in the area outside the lifts on the second floor.

I would not stay here again. The level of service was patchy and although the room was clean, we were unable to sleep and were forced to check-out early. I fear that the hotel spends too much time attempting to maintain its "devil may care" persona and its shallow, pretentious bar clientele instead of caring to the needs of its guests.

Stayed here for 1 night on a Friday. Not sure if it is a weekend thing but the lobby / bar was very busy when we returned at about 10pm as had been out all day and so you could unfortunaltely here the noise within the room which was a bit annoying. Was woken at 2am with people talking in back street so ended up thumping window. You could also smell some smoke within the room on initial entry when we checked in which was disapointing but when we returned at night the ventiliation had cleared most of the smell. The room is pretty cool and has everything you need in a nice simple way. The breakfast was quite quirky although more for the health conscious than the hungry. Would recomend this hotel although overall a bit pricey and drinks at bar were also pricey

Fantastic boutique hotel. Very lively bar that was great for a couple of hours after a busy night in London. This hotel is very good value for money Chilled friendly staff and atmosphere. Adequate bagged breakfast included in the room only package. Free internet and an hour of free worlwide calls per day .

Stayed here on a Friday night and was bowled over by this hotel. Very trendy but also very friendly. Public rooms very spacious and relaxing. Bedroom a reasonable size but had everything you need. Lovely beds and bedding, lovely towels and many little extras, i.e. free wifi and an hour of free national phonecalls as a promotion. Very comfortable and close to good nightlife. For a central London hotel this was very reasonably priced and very close to good nightlife.

This was my third stay at the Hoxton (second review). Still feel that is a great hotel. It has a good location if you like the Shoreditch area, it is close to Old Str station and fairly close to Liverpool Str Station as well.

The rooms are nicely designed. It was around two years since I was last at the Hoxton and the rooms still feel fairly new. Not much had changed since last visit but still liked it. Went with a friend this time so got one of the few twin rooms (should have more of those). The guy at the reception tried to switch us to a double room - a bit strange. He told us all twin rooms had 'accidently' been given away. When we refused and told us that then he would have to give us two rooms it was all of sudden no problem to get the twin room booked.

Anyway the room is nice, the only thing that should be replaced is the TV. They are the first generation flat screen TVs so the viewing angles are not very good. I did also like the shower, and bathroom. The shower has good water pressure and the option between either a regular shower head or a big 'rain' type shower head.

There is also better than average hotel coffee (granted it is not that difficult) provided. If you like coffee there is of course no point drinking the hotel coffee when many of London's best coffee places are close by (to name a few for those interested: Prufrock, Taylor Street Baristas, Nude Espresso,Look Mom No hands, Taste of Bitter Love). Still it shows that the Hoxton tries to make an extra effort. The breakfast provided (delivered in a paper bag outside the room) is fairly decent (a yogurt, banana and fresh OJ).

The hotel offers free wifi and there are ipads in the lobby area for surfing. There is also free phone calls (I think it was one hour per day) which is really different from most hotels who over-charge for such things.

The area can be a bit noisy at night. I was not disturbed by it but the bar downstairs has loud music until fairly late and there were quite a lot of police cars and ambulances passing by outside.

Still think the hotel is great. They always try their utmost for you to have a good stay. Looking at the price it is also by far better than almost anything else in the same price range in London. Can very much recommend it.

I was absolutely delighted with this hotel - proved to be a real gem and well worth the rate we got. The room was spotless with a few extra touches such as fresh milk and water in the fridge. The breakfast which came in a little bag if requested was lovely but in the end we decided to go for the breakfast in the restaurant which was excellent and perfectly cooked.

The beds were extremely comfortable - no problems with enough pillows and all the little extras throughout the hotel were really appreciated.

The staff we extremely helpful, even down to finding me a plaster!!

My only criticism was of the noise from the road behind in the morning but otherwise very quiet through the night and really can' t blame hotel for this noise.

The underground station was very convenient and I would consider staying here again, even if not needing to be in the Hoxton area cos of the excellence of this place and the rate.
