Our reserved standard studio turned out to be an extremely small (even no place for luggage) ground floor unit with easy street entrance – through window (I am usually pretty cheap, but this still struck me)! We immediately raised concerns to Steve Purcell, the leasing manager, and requested a new unit. A month later, we are still here. Because the rent was paid in advance, Steve was not willing to do anything. He kept saying he was working on it, though.
During this time, we found people pissing right outside our window, and we had our mobile phone stolen from our window sill. People were constantly chatting outside the window at night. None of these seem to have brought any attention to the leasing office since, after all, the rent had been paid.
To be sure, maybe apartments on upper floors might be better, but the problem is we couldn’t choose when we reserved it – it is randomly assigned. Furthermore, the fact that the management was irresponsible and that there was no effective channel to route complaints make us uncomfortable. The leasing manager we dealt with, Steve, was quite rude and impatient. He kept changing his words and claimed he had no manager, so our concern couldn’t go any further.
Anyway, seems pretty bad business to me. I would definitely avoid it in future.
